Cayman to 911
Hello all,
I have been a cayman owner for 10 years. Had a 2007 cayman S. Loved the car but was always wanting the icon 911. So traded in my porsche and a mustang on a slightly used 2016 911 black edition and just love it. Best car i have ever owned. This weekend detailed the heck out of it. Total of 13 hours. Going back to porsche as they are going to certify it so they go over everything.
Looking forward to joining the club.

Congrats... Same here except 2006S ->2013 991.
The 991 seems to be the best of both worlds, in that it turns in better than the 911s of old, but has better traction than a cayman. The Cayman will always have a special place on my wall though, if it wasn't for the sword of IMS hanging over my head I'd probably still have it...

same here cayman s 06, great car and lots of fun to drive and a good entry into to Porsche. When i bought the cayman i almost bought a 911 996 4s but didnt like the older interior. The 991 really feels like a GT compared to the cayman which felt like a "high end go Kart", but i find the 991 to have a much better ride, quieter, and much more shoulder and leg room, though i do miss the rear trunk of the cayman. I recently had a new cayman as a loaner and its improved a lot over the 2006, but still not at the level as the 991 (and not intended to be) the 991 has higher quality materials too. I really like my 991 and i am probably as quick or faster than the cayman of my favorite back roads (because of PDK vs the 6speed). No issues with the cayman in 53,000 miles other than service, but the thought of IMS sometimes made wonder too...

Congrats on the purchase. I just moved from a 2015 Boxster S to a 2017 911.2 Base.
In my case, the change decision had to do more with the fact that I needed some extra seating in the car for my two kids. Sometimes my wife is not available and I'm in charge of picking up the kids from school or just take them to different activities so the wife gave me permission to change cars.... hahahaha
The 911.2 is a great car. Is quote comfortable and I don't feel as cramped as in the Boxster (with the roof up). Visibility is better and the ride is quote comfortable, but it just doesn't feel as planted as the Boxster.
The Boxster and I guess specially the Cayman, feels like driving a Kart when compared to the 911. The grip is incredible and you don't need to worry all the time that the back of the car can go sideways if you for some reason break on a curve. Also miss the fact that you can drive with the roof down almost all year round were I live. Did try to look for a Cabrio when I purchased the 911, but my local dealer didn't have one available for several months and I couldn't afford not having a car for such a long period of time.
Having said that, really happy with the 911.
