Original bugs are ok, but the newer ones, can’t get more feminine than that. I’m sorry, nothing appealing about them.
Just because it has a flower holder in the dash, doesn't make it feminine.. Ok, it does... 😀 Had to drive one for 2 years, definately the lowest point in my motoring career, and I'm pretty secure in my manhood.. 😁

guy I work with has a 2016 Beetle in black and red stripes on the rocker panels. It actually looks pretty decent.
The first time that I saw a Porsche was when my dad and I picked up our 1966 VW in Sea Sand color at Moore Motors in Philadelphia - the one depicted in the attached photo is a dead ringer for our bug - even to the rear quarter dent acquired during a visit to NYC (someone hit the car when it was parked). I drove that car until its demise many years later. The Porsche I saw was a 1967 Green Targa for the unhead of outrageous price of $7400!!!! we should have bought 10
I used to squint at the VW and imagine it was a 911....alas, squinting didn't do it and it was not until June 2012 that I fulfilled a dream by driving off in my own 911
26mpg at $0.279 per gallon, freedom to travel anywhere I wanted. I loved that car.

I bought my first new car - a '67 like that but Green - also at Moore Motors on Broad St in Philly!. I think that particular dent was a standard mod that most folks got!
Drove to California and back to break it in. Hooked on Porsche from then on.
My dad had a '72 Beetle, orange. I learned to drive with that car and later on became my driver much to my disappointment as a teenager in the 90's. Everyone else had cool cars like Mustangs and Camaro's etc. What the Beetle did do though was get me a job at "The Last Detail", a high end body and race shop when I was 18 because I could drive a manual. I got a job there as a parts runner/errand boy specifically because the owner saw me pull up in the Bug. Part of the job included moving cars around the shop or picking up and driving customers cars to and from. These were Ferrari's, Porsche's, and an occasional celebrity or sports star's car. The highlight was dealing with Michael Jordan's cars and actually meeting him at his house, picking up one of his 850i's and driving it back to the shop. Talk about a teenage dream job.
It was there I fell in love with a Guards Red 911, but thought it was odd that the key was on the wrong side. I was smitten with a 911 since then but was an unattainable goal, it might as well have been a Lamborghini. Nearly 30 years later that old orange bug, long gone has turned into a Speed Yellow manual GTS. Turns out it was attainable, just took time.....and money. I still have a very soft spot for my dad's old Beetle, I never would have guessed how much it would have shaped future events, learning to drive....stalling the engine on the old farm road.....
Love beetles. That's all my parents drove in the 60s in Germany where I grew up. They used to put me in the way back (beetle owners know where I mean) for added traction to get up the hill to Berchtesgaden.

Yes, I know exactly where you are talking about. Been there many times. The car I learned to drive when I was 16 was the same one I sat in the back of when I was two. (Child safety seat, what's that?)
I actually taught myself to drive in that 1966 Beetle. I was 15 (legal driving age was and is 16) and my parents were in Mexico on a business trip - left me home in Pennsylvania. Taught myself to shift and few minutes and was off....my dad took me out in the car after I received my permit. He was surprised how smoothly I shifted and drove the VW....never told him but my father died a few years and before he died we had a good laugh about that - waited 54 years to tell him...
What's not to Luv about this? And feminine.....not even close.....Phil
Smart move, the dark tinted windows are a must! Wouldn't want anyone to see you driving it. That was my mistake, I should have had that done.. 😁 That said my wife loved it..

Now that's funny....it's my daily driver and I luv it. After 4 Mini Cooper S cars the Beetle is more comfortable for sure. It's loaded with tech so jumping into the GT4 is a total throwback experience. Plus it's part of the VAG family so it's a definite win. Also have a Audi in the stable.......Phil

I will give you that, the seats were extremely comfortable, and it was roomy for a small car. The only other redeeming factor was, it was a TDI and I could get close to 50mpg. My daily commute was about 160 miles back then.
