I don't want to get too far off the topic here...

I can't find any documentation on the interaction of PSM, ABD, and PTV but my guess is PSM and ABD will be doing the heavy lifting when driving in winter conditions. PTV is a great feature but I don't think it functions in the way you think it does. Unfortunately the way it is described is vague and open to interpretation.

When accelerating on wet or low-grip road surfaces, PSM improves traction – as well as agility, control and safety – using the automatic brake differential (ABD) and anti-slip regulation (ASR). Integrated ABS is designed to minimise braking distances.

Nice!

Curious, did the dealer try and steer you towards PDK? The local dealers around here seem to think it's a huge mistake to order a manual and seem to try and convince buyers to order PDK, though I also prefer the manual...

I'll bet certain dealers do that simply because they know it'll be easier to sell the car if the customer ordering the car decides to bail on the order before the car arrives. The more generic the build, the easier they can sell it off their floor, and way more walk in buyers want a PDK than a manual.

No. I ordered a '15 TT from him. I disliked the PDK so much, I traded it in after a year at his MB dealership next door on a '16 MB S550 4matic to DD.
When we finalized the deal today, he said nothing about a PDK and I don't think he's worried about me stiffing him (which I won't, as long as I'm still alive when the car arrives).
I'll never buy another 911 with a PDK. if they stop offering MT, I'll stop buying new.

I will. It'll be a while. I'm trying to coordinate an April/May delivery in Atlanta. I've heard good things about the experience and my wife likes shopping there.
My son continues to lobby heavily for Lava Orange, but he lives in SoCal...

As my dad said to me more than once.... You can get it however you want when you're paying for it.

Did he add "if you're lucky."? I have found that just paying doesn't always mean how you want it.

There's always a better model "soon". This way, I'll have the 4S by spring to drive. A bird in the hand...

Delighted to report I just got an email I'm at V200 for a Targa 4S for March delivery with freeze change point of 12/1.
Now trying to change the order to PTS, which will push delivery back several months, but would be worth the wait IMO.

One of the greens: Viper, Signal, RS or Grun (can't figure out umlauts on iPad). Working on getting samples. I have only seen Viper in the flesh.
