Default Buyer Arrogance - Having the means $ doesn't always get you respect.

Respect and pleasantries go both ways. It seems like many of those who have the means, especially newfound wealth seem to let it go to their heads.

I can imagine what some of these sales people go through whether it's luxury cars or other luxury goods.

Just because you can afford a Porsche doesn't give you a fee pass to be an a**hole. Large circle of wealthy friends or not.

Just the flip side to the "Dealer Arrogance" thread.

We all know the "types". I've seen them all over, even wandering around these dealer events, showrooms, etc ... They probably tend not to be the enthusiast types. Jump on bandwagons and need to have the latest "hot" car.

More like buy expensive things to show off what they have. Trying to "one up" every friend or person in the neighborhood. We all know people like this in our lives.

Don't really care either way as I avoid people I don't care for. Just another fun way to look at both sides of the coin as I'm sick of seeing the dealer arrogance thread

As someone mentioned on the other thread, the sales people probably have a lot of bizarre stories to tell. One thing I come away with after a car purchase it that I am very glad I am not in car sales!

STG is absolutely right. Money comes and goes but it's no excuse for poor attitude!

Shouldn't matter if your buying or selling. Treat the person well and in the overwhelming majority of cases they they will reciprocate. Same goes if you don't. Of course all this goes out the window if the person is simply having a terrible day (just got dumped, death in family, etc.) or is just an ***, and if so, move on T

New guy here and just an average middle class person who will be buying their first Porsche(I've never had a nice car like this)for my 50th birthday. I'm going to be going to my first Porsche dealer tomorrow. I'm going to be my average self and drive my average work pickup tomorrow to the dealers. I have some questions about ordering a Carrera S which might be PTS and trying out a few seat options. I will report back tomorrow on how I was treated and how good the information they provide me is, should be interesting.

What are the odds of test driving a car?

As another average person, just be normal and you'll be fine. What you can expect as a regular guy - way more attention and true awareness than when shopping for a vette, by far! Best chance for test drive is - in my opinion - a preowned that's equipped similar to what you're looking for.

Great thread stg
