Default 991 c2s or 997tt?

I have had my 991 up for sale for a bit, the PD K was a little uninvolving. I found a really nice 2007 997 twin turbo locally, 38,000 miles and very clean, could trade for it with a few thousand in cash left over. Mine is a C2S. 13k Miles, loaded and immaculate. It's not 6MT though....

for those of you with experience on both cars, what's the better handling car and overall enjoyable drive? The TT has several suspension upgrades. Mine is stock spasm. this is a weekend car, nothing more, and I get some occasional back road use, some occasional around town use.

what about cost of ownership? Seems like the TT would stay consistent in value? No? The 991 probably loses a lot in the next few years? Maintenance? Reliability? Overall cost of ownership? Already they are within $8k in wholesale value, the 997 started life as a 138K car, the 991 as a 128K car.

The turbo is addicting no question

You're not alone. Unless you have 2 different user names, lol.

I test drove an '07 997TT before I bought my 991 cab. Very plush ride and actually quite low to the ground. It would probably scrape on speed bumps. Turbo power was impressive. Really dated electronics/PCM.

For me, the only reason to get a 997.1TT is the Mezger engine, if that's what you value. Another choice from that generation is a GT3, a no compromise hot rod. I had one and sold it with no regrets. But what a powertrain with a shifter like a bolt action rifle. Also, probably will depreciate less than the TT. Just a thought.

The TT seems pretty reliable but as a 9 year old car, maintenance costs are probably more than the 991.

Ha! Mine is a 13, not a 14, but same boat! seems like that question might come up pretty often, considering that the cars are around the same price and it's much easier to find a manual in the 997. There are a bunch on auto trader in that price and mileage range. The SA at the dealer told me today that he thinks the turbo is the better car, he didn't know if I could expect to spend a lot more maintaining it however

From a cost/depreciation perspective, power and "analog feel", 997 Turbo ALL DAY LONG

I was in the same boat, and went for the 991 C2S (7MT) because, I just loved the interior, refined chassis and styling.

To me, the 997 felt "old". Some people really like that classic shifter at the ground analog steering thing, but I am a sucker for new stuff

Funny how you brought it up, 997 turbos recently caught my attention as well. I would love to drive one to compare the feel of the two cars.

I had a 997.2TT. Have been in love with the Targa since it came out in its current form on the 991. Have been waiting/hoping for a TT Targa. Don't think it's ever going to happen. I test drove the 991.1 GTS Targa, hoping to like it. Nope. It was a far cry from my TT. Couldn't make the switch. Then test drove the 991.2 4S. Wow, what a great car. Very close to my TT. It's comparable to my TT on the 'fun' meter, seems just as fast, just amazing. Long story short, I traded in my 997.2TT, have the Targa on order, and will get in December. Can't wait.

Totally different cars and both are amazing in very different ways.

There is a reason that the 991.1 won best driver car 2 years in a row and never the turbo.

Which is faster straight? Lets just make that rhetorical... The Turbo is a hotrod that hangs with the craziest of exotics in ways that it shouldn't.

I go back to this on different threads but my love for the 3.8 C2S stems from having 550+ hp cars and having gotten that out of my system. It's not even so much the HP as the Torque. The C2S is just so much more useable for most situations - the revs - the sound. Something the Turbo or 991.2 mini turbos will never be able to replicate.

Just as the boosted cars can never replicate the 3.8 engine - the 991 can't replicate the analoginess[I just made this word up and not a typo] of the 997.

If I had had the money/space I'd have[need] like 6 porsches to scratch so many itches.
