I take all of their information lightly but I still consider it when making choices.

To the OP FWIW, I have a base .1 that is far more car than I am driver. I know I would be VERY happy with a base .2 ordered to my specifications and I suspect most folks would be as well.

I don't want all-wheel drive but love wider body lines, so no I'm not just looking for letters. I don't care what the letters are, just want to take 991 power kit motor and drop it in 991.2 GTS and have perfection. Let's see how close P can get.
If the factory sound doesn't quite do it for you on the new 991.2 PSE, we have come up with some pretty superb upgrades already. Below is a link to our full 991.2 product page, and a video of our full package on a S PSE. Sport Mode in particular has a very impressive N/A burble/overrun to it.

OP, I'm in the exact same boat!

Coming from M cars, I'm pretty torn on the three options (four if you throw the potential M2 CSL in there). Keep us posted on what you ultimately decide!

I would rather have a 991.1 GTS now over a 991.2 base or waiting another year (or more) for whenever a 991.2 GTS might come out.

OP, if I was in your shoes, I'd go with the new base car. I've been pondering a similar decision related to a second car and if I go forward it's going to be a new C4 spec'd exactly the way I want.
I like having cars that hold value, not those that are instantly worth $30k less when you leave the dealer. There's a "right one" spec'd out there for everyone, just gotta look hard and find it.

OP: Same boat. I've considered all of your options and then some. If you are going to hold onto it for a long time, get a 991.2. Get exactly the car that you want. Doing that is a much more personal and meaningful choice.

The Base 991.2 is more than enough for just about everyone.

And I buy my cars for me to enjoy, not based on what it's going to be worth when I sell it. Please find me a low mileage .1 C4S with PDK, PSE, SPASM, no sunroof, Burmester audio, 18 ways, Sport Technos and PCCB brakes, in either black, GT silver or Rhodium.

What type of engine do you want? NA or turbo? If you don't mind turbo charged engines, then I would suggest waiting until the 991.2 GTS comes out so you can spec it to your taste. If you are like me and you are a fan of the NA engine, then your decision is made. Find a 991.1 GTS to your liking.

Door #3 is the way I went but you better hurry. Expect deliver about Feb. unless your CA can do some fancy allocation wheeling dealing.

Haha I know what you mean though, and nothing like that new car smell. However, you can usually find 90% of what you're looking for used but out of a dozen or so high-end cars I've only managed to buy one pre-owned and it worked out so well that I many try it again with a 2016 GTS.

I found close to that...but a C2S instead of a C4S. Carrera Classic wheels instead of Sport Technos (although those could be swapped), but it has a glass sunroof...all that you mention otherwise plus some other goodies. They are out there!

But they're not and you just proved it. What's out there are just cars, with options that aren't perfect unless you just happen to be the type of person who doesn't really care and buys off the dealer lot. If you're looking for a generic Porsche or you're willing to compromise, you're fine. But if you have a few very specific wants, good luck.

Link doesn't work, but I've searched Cars.com and Autotrader repeatedly and there's nothing even close. Hell, it's near impossible to even find a no sunroof car, much less all the other things I'd want. A new C4 makes much more sense to me, if I decide I want another car.
