I also agree with all the sand paper suggestions. A half decent detailer will make this invisible from 6 feet away.

I just had similar thing happened to me on my x5 with someone slam his door at the similar spot, damage wasn't as bad as yours, but what I did was to touch it up, sand it down a bit, polish & sealant & wax. looks decent enough.

Do it yourself. If it's an turd then you are in the same repaint boat. The location is very favorable.
