As I continue to get use to my new (to me) '14 991 C4S, my teenage son identified something different on this car from my 997.2 that surprised me. The Porsche logo in the rear windshield is gone. Every Porsche sports car I remember 911, 924, 928, all had that old school P O R S C H E on the sloped rear window. I guess now that it's on the rear bumper of the 991, it is considered redundant? I find this too bad. I really liked that logo placement on the rear windshield and miss the nostalgia aspect of that placement.

I must be blind. Since 1974 I have never had a logo on the rear window of any of my 6 Porsches.

I've had a few more than that, and I don't remember that either. Perhaps it's my age. Has to be aftermarket sticker.

well, my dad's 924 and 928 S4 had them. My 997.2 had it as well.

My brother's 997.1 has one as well from the factory. Just noticed last week it was not on the 991.

I read, and now can't find the article, Porsche put the logo in the rear windows of previous generations and stopped. If I remember correctly, there was a patent/copyright question if they left it off for a certain number of years, so they added it back at that time to protect the patent/copyright. I believe the article said as long as they use it occasionally, it's protected. I tried to google it but couldn't find anything. So, maybe I dreamed this? I know I had a 2001 C4S that had it.
