I just did a 303 cleaner and sealant on my 997.2 Cab and I could not be happier! Used a pressure washer, gave the top a nice spray, then added the cleaner. Worked it in with a gntle bristle brush...washed the wheels that pressure washed the top. Front to back, center out. AMAZING the amount of dirt/grime that cam off. Let dry over-night, then applied the sealant today. Was VERY careful wiping off any tirm that got over-spray, and used 2/3 of a bottle on this application.
Will report back on the beading and look after a couple washes...but from what I've read and now what I've seen, 303 makes great products.
FYI I noticed my "creases" became a little less noticeable. 2012 with 16k miles, never park with the tip down FYI

Mine looks just like the first picture!! 2013 32K miles. I use my top all the time but in 40 years of driving 10 different brand convertibles this one is the most expensive and has the most wear the soonest! This is not normal for a 2 year old car!! I will be talking to my SA on my next visit!!

2Zero I'm curious what you hear from your service advisor. I showed photos of my top to the service advisor in Porsche in central Munich yesterday. He said that's normal wear. I pointed to him that none of the 5 used 2013 911 convertibles they have at their dealership for sale have that extent of wear. He said its still normal wear due to "friction." Perhaps he is still recovering from Oktoberfest.
I will be at the Porsche factory in Stuttgart next week. I'm going to ask for their opinion.

In either case, it's a warranty issue, namely, defective material or workmanship. That general condition is described in their warranty manual.
It's going to be a hurdle to get the Porsche System to acknowledge that, however. Because the cost to replace all those ugly tops is huge. Knowing that, the Porsche mantra is "Normal wear and tear" and is a required response by anyone getting a Porsche paycheck.

Has anyone had any success getting convertible top wear replaced under warranty? Mine is almost completely frayed through and the dealer refuses to replace under warranty. I called Porsche Customer Service for assistance and all they did was call the dealer and ask the dealer for the basis for their denial. Customer service said there is nothing they can do when the dealer says it's not covered under warranty and is just normal wear and tear. I am utterly shocked at how Porsche North America approached an issue in their customer service department. Does anyone have any other thoughts?
The next nearest dealer is about 80 miles away.

Can you have your dealer request the area rep. to see it in person? I had some problems with a 2008 Boxster S years ago and while I cannot divulge what happened the area rep. came to the dealer and my car was inspected, etc. and I was very happy with the resolution.

I saw some areas of wear on a low mileage Targa top sitting at the dealers, made me wary as I have had convertibles and the tops are vulnerable.
If you leave them stowed over a period of time (I also had a removable hardtop that I liked to use, so the convertible top was stowed quite often) they will have coloration issues/creases.

You are correct, my bad. But no matter what I would still never order a 911 without some sort of top that opens (as well as with a manual). Otherwise I have seen some pretty high mileage/older Cabs and none had top problems like the OP has.

9114SCV - I had wear similar to yours. The seam was splitting on the driver's side, near the front. There was close to an inch where the seam was opening up. The dealership I took my car to for replacement (Porsche South Bay in LA) replaced the top, no questions asked. No discussion about it being normal wear and tear.

In:re Targa:
On one area, driver's side above the side window to the rear, appeared to be fuzzier than the rest of the fabric and slightly lighter in color. Chafing after it's stowed? Just looked at one Targa, could be an isolated deal.
