Was there a trade involved in either deal you mention?
To me, you're stretching reality by characterizing a car with 13.5k miles on it (DerekS) as having just "a few more miles" on it than a car with 4.5k miles (3Series). The difference in that mileage is close to a years worth of driving. That alone makes them different cars.
Also, IMO, to make your two comparison a bit more convincing, you'd have to be able to say what the MSRP was on both cars as well as their in service date.

Well, I think $118 is high. Typically, I've used $1500 for 10k miles of use when comparing cars. However thats when a car has 40 or 50k miles. This is a little different, plus the car is a Targa which always commands a premium in the resale market. If this car were leased with a 65% residual, it would be around $90k in about 6 months.

Here is one for comparison sake... same dealer I got mine from, so he uses no haggle pricing. Mileage is higher, but the rest should be pretty comparable and he is asking $105K.....and in my opinion, the CPO warranty alone is worth $2-3K of that $105K price.

2) You're suggesting a (now) 15,000 mileage difference between, this car and the OP's car is valueless. It's not. You're dreaming if you think a dealer is going to hand you that value for nothing.
3) The car from Herb Chambers is Speed Yellow. Which is probably the least favorite and least purchased color of all Porsche colors. A fact buried in his price.
The Op's car is black. The most popular, most purchased Porsche color.
Apples and oranges.

1) No haggle dealer? Are you kidding? He lowered the price 10K in big bold print. That's a haggle move in which he is shouting: "Wanna go lower, just ask."

Its a CPO and a far cry from the $118K non CPO you feel is a good value.
Just trying to support the fact that $118K is on the high end for a non CPO by using a few examples.

It's worth a try to get the dealer to shave off 1 or 2 k. Hell, go for 5k. All he can say is no. Or maybe escort you out the door.
The way I see it, the big thing for you is - try to make sure the previous owner treated it right.
I'm not sure what you're getting at here. You're not saying the car will be worth 90K in six months, are you?
I'm not a big fan of valuing a car, at any stage of its life, based on lease terms.

2.) Yes, I'm saying the car valued at $90k in 6 months is just a data point and a good one to boot. This isn't my first porsche or car purchase. The Targa is "just another Porsche". This isn't a 911R or GT4.
