Default GT4 Short shift kit installed

Had the GT4 short shift kit installed today. Was not expecting anything big but was happily surprised by how direct and tight it feels. Much shorter throws but a much more quality shift feel. Very happy I chose to do this easy mod. Definitely worth doing.

I'm glad the review is positive for this kit, mine's just waiting for install, I'm pretty excited about it. I consider shifter engagement feel and solid shifting mechanism to be one of the top priorities when it comes to driver and car connection (other than steering and pedal feel...), so having a solid shifter feel is important to me.

I did the installation myself about a week ago definitely recommend this mod.

The more I drive it the more I like it. Definitely more solid secure shifting and a much shorter feel.

Greetings Everyone!

I just picked my 2016 Rodium 991 GTS.

I am definitely not happy with my shifter. It is too long and has too much play IMHO.

Where can i get this GT4 Kit? Is it just an OEM GT4 shifter available at a dealer? or is this aftermarket?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Congrats on the new car. You'll like the SSK, and yes, it's the OEM GT4 shifter. Best price seems to be Sunset Porsche. Lots of info here:

I don't think that's the GT4 shift linkage, just the standard SSK. The GT department at Porsche developed a very specific linkage for the GT4 that may, or may not, fit anything else. It is a terrific shift action--nearly as good as the S2000. Snick-snick indeed.

Sunset Porsche has the best pricing I found after checking several places. It is a very economical mod but the improvement in shift feel and throw is substantial.

All Caymans have Getrag tramsmissions while all 991 manuals are made by Aisin with ZF designs.

Yup. Suncoast hides the part number and up charges about $100 (?) to MSRP.

Yes! I found this out the day after I placed my order with suncoast. I am going to replace my Gt4 shifter with the new Numeric Racing piece, once it's releases next month.
