Default Clean As A Whistle!!!!

Thought I'd post up these pictures from yesterday's oil change. I'll update my UOA thread next week after I receive the Blackstone Labs report.

About 31,500 miles on the motor.
About 5,200 miles on the oil (last oil change was March 2016).
Mobil 5W50.
L&N Engineering billet maganet drain plug.

All is clean in the galaxy:

I'm not trying to extend the oil life. I'm only trying to extend the motor life.

My UOAs tell me the 5,000 miles is a nice sweet spot. I could easily go 6 or 7. But I'd never go 10.

Haha touche. I asked because I've been doing 7.5K with Motul x-cess 8100 but I'm considering moving down to a 5K OCI interval. Good to know about the UOA!

I would recommend NOT using the Motul any more. Lots of shear breakdown. It you follow some of the UOA threads on our other forums (997 and the 991 GT3 and 997 GT3) you'll see this recent trend/finding from the past 18-ish months.

I would not use either of those oils.

I might try Mobil 5w-50 on the next change per Lexie's comments but so far Motul 5W-40 has been fantastic Lex, you know a good place to get Mobil 5W-50? Impossible to find in stores over here

My filter looked just like that after my first oil change at 10,000 miles. I dissected it since I didn't follow the 4200 rpm limit (at all!) and was curious. I hammered the crap out of the car on the Stelvio pass with only 400 miles on it. I pulled the filter apart in water to see if ay metal shavings could be found....didn't see any.

At 26k miles, I just finished my third oil change (3 years) and little observable oil usage still. (only lost one bar by each oil change).

I plan on putting 200k miles on it before I kick the bucket and am buried in my 981.

That's great news.

I can assure you the 3.8L 9A1 motor is a lot harder on the oil than the 981 motor.

Not to be a nerd.....but about 12.9% harder on the oil if we base that on HP/Liter which is debatable. (assuming S, not GTS)....but let's be honest...that is not what is "hard on the oil"

Contamination, oil temp, time etc is what is "hard on the oil". Not displacement and HP.

Both engines are tanks.

for those that comment about motul v. Mobil 1, etc. what do you base your comments on? What facts? I am always surprised when I see people take sides on oil choice and wonder.
