Default New DD

Last week I began looking for a DD that would be a little more comfortable and easier to get in and out of than my 2017 C2S Coupe.

I love the C2S, one the most amazing cars I've ever owned, but, approaching 50 yrs old and having RA, getting in and out 3 or 4 times a day is taking its toll on my knees. The car is seriously on the ground. Once in it os very comfortable with all kinds of room but then getting out is a slightly awkward process.

I looked at a BMW 650 GC and a X6 but came away unimpressed with both, especially the X6, which is really a hideous looking vehicle. The 650 GC was more than I wanted to spend for a DD and they TANK in value so quickly.

I hate MB and Audi (accept the RS7, which I used to own) and find most of their cars boring.

Instead, I went to Porsche and test drove the MACAN GTS. I fell in love within 10 seconds. The GTS is really an incredible vehicle, so far ahead of the class.

I haven't even driven the C2S in a week because this little SUV is so good. The Macan is a jack of all trades and is better than most sports cars.

Awesome choice. I have a Macan S for my DD and it's a great vehicle.

Nice! I'm trying to decide between a 240i, an M3 and a Macan for days when I need more seats and/or luggage room. I was considering a Golf R, but they're impossible to get.

I did that about 6 weeks ago and fully agree. It is amazing to get in the Macan or the 991 and feel nothing is lost.

Squats. Low weight, 12-15 reps, 4 sets. I don't have RA, but I did have major knee surgery about 20 years ago. At least this is what I tell myself when in the gym, to help me power through my workouts. "I'm doing this so I can get in & out of my 911".

Enjoy your new Macan.

+1 on the squats. Don't watch other guys at the gym do them though, everyone does them bouncy and wrong which will ruin your knees. You want to go down slowly until your upper leg is fully parallel to the ground (use a mirror), come to a complete stop, hold it for a second, then push straight back up.

Yup. Like sitting on the potty. Push through the heals. Not toes.

Congrats! We picked up a Macan S when they first came out (May 14). After 2 years still love and if I could only have one car I'd keep that one.

My wife also got a Macan for a DD and I find myself driving it a lot more than I intended. Great little cars.

Not to get us too far off track, but try a single-legged dumbell squat to perfect your form. Basically, stand perpendicular with your back to a flat bench, lay one leg on the bench (your foot should be on the bench, but that's it), hold two dumbells, squat with your other leg.

Hard to screw this one up, forces you to lift from the heel.
