The 991 GTS takes away the pleasure I previously had driving my BMW 335i xDrive with Dinan Stage 2 Software. I feel like I am sitting on a really fast Sofa in the Bimmer.
So after test driving many cars (M235i xdrive, GTI, WRX, Wrangler Unlimited, S3, Mini Cooper S and Clubman) I decided on the Mini Cooper Clubman S All4. It's not the fastest or the most comfortable or the most practical. But it was the most fun that met my basic needs.
The Clubman S I bought is fully loaded with cool stuff like heads-up display, all wheel drive, 6-speed manual, John Cooper Works package (not the engine ). It really is a nice ride and a blast to drive. Fairly quick but corners very well with almost no body roll. Kids absolutely love it as well with features like the disco mood lighting and the hood stripes. Plus it has the barn doors in the back.
I know it's not everyones cup of tea, but they are pretty unique little cars. As a frame of reference, it's about the same dimensions as a 4-door Golf.
"Does a fun daily driver take away from your 911?"
Interesting question. My experience is that my expectations are re-aligned by having an exciting DD. I'm a lifetime motorcycle enthusiast (since I was 5 at least). When possible, my choice for commuting is two wheeled. All the bikes I currently have, as well as most of my past bikes outperform my S in nearly every measure.
When I jump in the 911, I don't think OMG this really fast. I appreciate it for what it is, specifically a great experience. But since you've made me think about it, I think it does take away a little. I'm not complaining, and I wouldn't change a thing, but I think I would be even more enthused jumping into the p-car if my daily grind was in a 10 year old Accord.
Purchased this 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500 H.D. diesel 8 years ago and has been a great DD. Besides regular maintenance installed a cracked fuel filter bracket (approx. $ 120) and thats it. T

Congrats! My wife has a 2016 Cooper S and loves it. They are very fun to drive. Ours has the Cooper Works package as well, and we added the engine performance tune. It made a pretty significant difference, so check that out.
It's nice to have a fun backup car - even if you DD the 911. I started with a '15 GTI and while I enjoyed it, recently traded for a '16 Golf R 6MT. C4S is a totally different experience.
I'll toss in my $.02 now. Yeah my daily driver does impact my 911 experience. My winter car is a 1995 Audi S6 closing in on 200K miles. My spring, summer and fall car is a 2000 Boxster S. Now the Boxster can fit golf clubs in its trunk - not the 911. The Boxster can go shopping and not have to park far away from the crowds. I could go on and on but the point is that the Boxster is the do everything car and the 911 only comes out on special occasions or weekends. Although now that I think about it, I'll drive it tonight to get a bottle of Scotch.
