First P car and new member
Picked up my first P car, a preowned 2015 GTS 4 with 2200 miles.
Prior vehicle was 15 Tesla 85D so the 911 is a big change for me.
First impressions are wow, what a fun card to drive. Coming from the Telsa you get disconnected with the whole driving experience not so with 911.
Everytime I get behind the wheel I end up with a big *** grin.
Car came well equipped, would have preferred a manual but my wife cant drive stick.
So far I have changed out the side markers, ordered the Rennline grills, had the existing clear bra the prior owner had put redone, ordered leather sill trim, leather column and carbon lighted sills. It also came with a Escort 9500ci that was installed very nicely in above the garage opener buttons.
All the Cobb/Awe/Fab talk has me leaning toward doing an xpipe and tune as well.
Really have enjoyed my 2 weeks of lurking on this forum great group of guys and the wealth of knowledge yall provide is amazing.

Thank you all for the kind words!
As far as the Tesla goes I do have some regrets getting rid of it, but the more I drive the 911 the more it fades. The model I had (85D) has a stated 0-60 of 4.2 but in the real world its more like 3.9. The instant torque sensation is incredible and out of this world in the P90DL. Where the Tesla falls short in performance is the 70+ range.. its fast but not like the 911. The GTS is almost scary when you nail it at 75MPH, it just pulls and pulls and pulls.
Handling in the Tesla is good considering its heavy four door sedan, but GTS flat out kills it.
The area that no automaker can compete is the Radio/Nav/settings.. the screen is flat out awesome and very intuitive. Its much like an Iphone, anyone can learn to use it within 5 minutes. My first time using the PCM drove me nuts, I figured Porsche must have hired the guy that wrote the code for BMW's first Idrive system. However after a day of use I had it down pat and kind of understand what the person that wrote the code was trying to implement.
Tesla fails miserably is quality, fit and finish. My car had the tail lights replaced twice, several trim pieces replaced, rubber trim that would not stay in place, poor fitting glass, door handles that didnt work right, and some rattles. In year of ownership my car spent probably 16 days at the service center. The techs and people running the shops are great, they go above and beyond correct your problems and are in constant contact during the repairs. I actually feel sorry for them having to deal with problems that should be corrected at the factory level.
The shop that re-did my PPF on the GTS had 2 Model X's and the techs there didnt have many positive things to say about them. I looked over the X they were working on and the doors didnt line up which is problem Tesla supposedly addressed 2 months ago.
Even after all my problems and still seeing QC issues in the newest models Id still buy another Tesla.
The tech, acceleration and never having to get gas are worth overlooking the issues they have.
But at the end of the day the extra cost of insurance and uncertainty of the company led me to sell it. I figured it was best to get out of it while the gettin was good.
Who would think a Porsche GTS would be $800 a year cheaper to insure?! Insurance companies are becoming more Tesla unfriendly since the cost to repair them is astronomical and they can only be fixed by Tesla Approved body shops.

tampa, congrats on the GTS. I've been a 911 driver for over 15 years, and I can tell you that you'll never stop loving it. Porsche learned a long time ago how to just nail it in every regard - performance, luxury, quality and reliability. There's no other car (including the exotics) that I'd prefer. And thanks for your write-up on the Tesla. In a recent search for a car to replace my S4 winter car, I spent a lot of time in the Model S and have read many user comments on the Tesla forums. I think you succinctly hit the nail on the head. An incredible car that just hasn't quite got it all right. But I think it's only a matter of time. After all, they've been producing cars on a mass level for only about five years. I have high hopes for the brand, but they do need some time to meet the quality standards of the Germans. Enjoy your new ride!

Welcome aboard!
Interesting to read the notes from your year with Tesla. I was essentially told the same re: their displays and OS on their tech. The big *** grin will only get bigger if/when you equip it with an exhaust and other goods. Enjoy your beautiful new GTS!
