Default 991 Carrera S + Trofeo R = Purist Dream // TAG Motorsports

There is TONS you can do to a 991 as you have seen - but this one has turned into a Purist's dream, using OEM+ goodies all over, on this 2013 991 C2S. The car was lowered down on the TechArt Springs which brings it down about 15-25mm depending on if you have PASM or not. We also fitted a OEM SSK to the factory 7-speed transmission, and added the GIAC Software Upgrade which added a nice amount of low end torque the 991's need. We then moved on to the exhaust and fitted an Akrapovic System, and to keep the car planted a bit better on the track, the client opted for the 245/35/20 and 305/30/20 Trofeo R tire with H&R 10mm Spacers up front and 15mm Spacers in the rear to make the fitment perfectly flush!

Here is the complete list of Modifications:

-Akrapovic Exhaust System
-TechArt Lowering Spring Set
-Pirelli Trofeo R Tires - 245/35/20 and 305/30/20
-H&R Spacers - 10mm Front + 15mm Rear
-GIAC ECU Upgrade
-BMC Air Filters
-AWE Windfoil Wind Diffusor
-OEM Short Shift Kit
-Front & Rear Camera System
-TAG Motorsports Painted Reflector Package

So these are basically a competitor for the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. They are a much more track oriented tire but stick quite a bit better. We have mounted them on counltess GT3's and our clients seem to be very happy with them. They are even made in the same factory as Pirelli's Formula1 Tires in Turkey!

For more information click HERE to check it out on our web site! Also here is a great video of Chris Harris romping around in a 991 GT3 with the Trofeo R's and comparing it to other tires!

^^ thanks! Looks like a great tire. Was thinking about Sport Cups in the future, but will definitely consider these.

Trofeo R's are lovely tires no doubt but seems a bit crazy outside of the track... the wear rating (60!!!) is 1/3 of the MPSC2. Seems like you'd kill them driving back and forth to the store.

+1. Trofeo are amazing at the track, very close to performance of a full slick. Great tires if you're looking at setting fast lap times. But they just don't last. I blew through a set in 3 track days, and after the 1st day, there's no way they could be driven in the rain.

Agreed, I'll stick with the cup 2s. Best dual purpose tire invented to date imo.

If someone like the look of the OEM wheels - and they just want to get them a bit more flush, they are a good alternative.....
