The intent of the original post certainly wasn't meant to be some form of "elitist snobbery" or a vapid cry for attention...far from it. I am thankful for what I have and have grinded most of my adult life to get to the point where I can comfortably budget this money. Further, any time that I fire up any of my cars and hit the gas, I have a big grin on my face (regardless of air-cooler v. water cooled or P-Car vs non P-Car).

I love talking about cars and pouring over sites like BringATrailer, and my buddies and I (like most people on this forum) love talking about what cars we would love to get..and our discussions are just as likely to be about grabbing a 944T, 928S4, or other cars "before they become too expensive" as they are about Ferraris, McClarens or Lambos.

This said, there are SO MANY great cars out there and I am just curious as to what other car fanatics would do. Thanks for the replies!

Cheers,

First, how did you recall your pw? Joined over a year ago and first post just recently?? Second, I'd like to know more about you and the current cars.... Please post more than annually.

Lastly, not sure about 2 PDK 991's...unless one is a GT3. Looks like you have the Porsche 911/ 2 seater front covered. Try something new. G63? Rover Autograph? Cayenne Turbo S? Boat? Pilots license & half a Cirrus? A fifth of a vacation home? Lend it to me at a fantastic rate....

I think we need to cut this guy a break. It's a simple question he's asking: What car would you get if you allocated 200k towards the purchase.

He gave his budget and a few of his options.

OP, to answer your question: Go with the McLaren or get a GT3 and spend 50k on track and tires.

And congratulations on working hard and being in a position to get one of those bad boys.

Easy call. $200k = Ferrari 458. Future classic for the same reason the 991.1 will be. Last of the NA era.

At the AMG forum, there are numerous issues with the Edition-1 GT-S. Too many "Gremlins" on the first year release models. You may want to wait some more if this is something that appeals to you and have M-Benz AMG sort out the "Gremlins" before you plunge to a point of no return.

Two known Edition-1 buy backs already.

Drive safe,

I have the perfect solution to all of your problems, but it's going to cost you $200k to pry it out of me.

My opinion is this: Get yourself a fun convertible. I did in the form of a 981 spyder and I absolutely love it love it it. Want to drive it every moment I can when the sun's out and wind's blowing.

Speciale and S. Aperta are likely future classics, and I would guess will hold their value. I would further guess that "regular" (yeah, I know, but regular by Ferrari standards!) 458s will depreciate like the 430s and 360s before them. Perhaps a tad more slowly given the switch to the turbo'd 488?

Not to get off-topic but it's crazy to me how low prices for the 360 are these days.... especially those without a proper gearbox. Crazy.

I'm planning to buy another car in the next month. I do a few track events and DEs per year (though looking to do a few more as my schedule permits) and also like to do car shows. I look at my cars as drivers and not interested in a car to put in the garage. I typically pay cash for my cars but generally don't love buying new cars and paying for the initial depreciation.

The options I am looking at are as follows:
1) Keep both 911s and buying a preowned McClaren MP4-12C...add the (least douche) super car to to stable. I've driven one and like a lot but clearly a bit flashy.
2) Buy a 991.2 Turbo S .If I do this, does my 991S ever get driven?
3) Sell my current 991S and buy a new 991.2 911S and an Aston Martin Vantage GT 6-speed. I think the Aston is by far the best looking 'new' car out there and the price of the GT is a steal. I've driven a 991.2S. Feels much quicker than my current 991 and I like the changes to the car...though the exhaust sound isn't as spirited.
4) Sell current 991S and buy a used '13-'15 Turbo S and Aston Martin Vantage GT 6-speed.

As my buddy would say - these are clearly first world problems, but I'm curious of any opinions.

Thx,
997.2 GT3 / GT350R pairing would be ideal (190k range)

If it has to be more flashy/exotic I vote Ferrari 458

Agree about those cars except the Speciale is around $400k and the Aperta more than $700k.

Exactly. I think you might even have a tough time finding a 458 Spider for $200 K. But you'd have more than a few Italias to choose from fit that budget...T

Keep the 964.
Sell the 991.
Buy the MB AMG.
Bank the remainder.

Great to be buying car in the US. For $200K, not enough to get a C2 in Hong Kong.
