Default Brake squeal is driving me nuts...

Im going to the dealer tomorrow because every time I brake, there is an audible squeal like a tractor trailor is coming to a stop. Whats interesting is very light and heavy brake input doesnt cause it, only medium. Also it usually gets worse as the rotors and brakes heat up.. anyone have similar luck? I tried to break in the brakes to no avail.

I had that. I changed all 4 rotors and pads for half the price I expected (thanks to Suncoast) and then paid the dealership $200 to bleed the system. It's totally silent now.

Your car was the one sitting for a long time, right?

It's normal.

Drive harder. Brake harder. No mo noise.

Agreed. All high performance car brakes will squeal from time to time. Brake harder and later. This isn't a Camry, never ride the brakes to a stop.

You just need to bed them in. Take the car to an appropriate place at an appropriate time and do a few hard stops from the vicinity of 100 MPH. That should put an end to the squealing.

Wait how do you come to a stop without using the brakes?

I do it all the time with a manual trans. Not sure why, but I do.

But even in 1st, idle power keep the car crawling along... or are you saying you put in in neutral and just let it slowly slowly roll to a stop?

Brake to a near stop. Press clutch. Take out of gear. Roll the last car length. Maybe a brake tap if needed. Level ground.

Does that reduce brake wear?

(Edit: sorry, misread post as advocating downshifting to brake.)

I see what he's saying now -- I failed to engage coffee before putting fingers in gear.

I was always taught to keep car in gear for evasive/emergency reasons around red lights, intersections, and stop signs and such.

I get well over 100k miles out of clutches and over 75k on brake pads.
