2016 991: 10,000 miles in 6 months
Funny how in most other cars, 10,000 miles in 6 months wouldn't be newsworthy.... I keep seeing super low mileage 911's and it got me wondering, who else drives their car as much as I do?
Anyone else enjoying their car this much?
We did a few road trips which spiked the first few months, I bet I'll average around 1,000 miles a month now. Don't have a long commute--heck I work from home. But always (always) down for a drive
I can report the car is docile and almost comfortable in traffic, but a beast when appropriate. 18 way seats are almost set just right, still feel a little pressure on right thigh & lower back--but close! Zero issues. No trips to dealer, except voluntarily changed oil at 2500.. One rattle in front left interior A-pillar, annoying enough to point out during next dealer visit--not worth special visit. Picked up a nasty bolt but had no trouble getting tire patched (even with a CL rim). Averaging 19.xx mpg. No track days yet, canyon carving monthly--also monthly PCA drives, cars & coffee, etc. Rear tires look great, I'd hazard a guess that more than 50% is left on them... No expert but wondering if the wider GTS rear = less tire usage due to more rolling surface?
Any other daily drivers out there? Heck.....any 2016's with 5 digit mileage?

I met this fellow at the gas station, we were both filling up our 911's. His was late 80's... Some special model celebrating the 250,000th 911 I think he said. Had Porsche's signature embroidered into the headrest. Anyway: 280,000 miles. The car was--well pretty beat up actually. But sounded great and no major body issues. Just 280,000 miles worth of fun extracted from it. He seemed delighted when I let him know I drive mine too. Pointed to my son in the back (we were on way to school). The fellow smiled and said, "yep, the 911 is a great truck"
Searched online... Here is what he had: http://grautogallery.com/vehicles/1822/1988-porsche-911
Cool. 1 of 300. Hope I get 280,000 miles of enjoyment from mine too!

Drive in good health.

I drove back and forth from Boca Raton to Santa Monica via Monument Valley on the return. Did about 6100 miles.
Westbound suffered a cracked windshield, eastbound suffered a hole in my condenser resulting in no AC on the return.

Well, I love my 2013 C4S and bought it fully intending to drive it. I just turned 2300 miles in 5 weeks. If there wasn't the constant threat of brutal hail in the afternoons, I would have more on it. I love the 280K story!

As reported before I did 24,000 miles in 12 months no problems at all. 1 set of tyres, 2 lots of oil and filters. The car had a 125 point vehicle check a week before sale and there were no issues to be reported.

I will never understand why someone would buy a Porsche and then park it in their garage. I have no judgment, but status is not a goal of mine. I just like driving Porsches. I can understand depreciation with mileage but why buy the car if you are worried about that?
My 2014 Boxster S has 25k on it.....and it is just a weekend toy, not my daily driver. You can do the math on miles/year. I also live in the north east where it is friggin cold sometimes.
I got tired of coming home from work in my Lexus and feeling this uncontrollable urge to swap cars so that I can get my Porsche fix. I couldn't stand it anymore so I am replacing my daily driver with a 991.2 next year (but will never get rid of my 981). I will put 20k miles a year on the 911 and plan to keep it 10 years.
Yeah, I like driving Porsches.

I got my 2016 GTS cabriolet around Halloween. I am nearing 7,000 miles. The car works like a charm. In fact, the engine seems to be finding its voice. It really loosened up and got nasty - in the best possible way - somewhere after the 2,000 mile mark. It is my daily driver. The car is entirely docile and quiet when I want it to be but when I want to open it up in the canyons or along the Pacific Coast Highway, she is a monster. Incredible grip on the road, as well - much more so than my base 991 cabriolet. I am sure that has to do with many factors - bigger booty, bigger wheels, PASM, PDCC, PTV, etc. I plan on driving this car until the wheels drop off. I would love to hit 250k in this car and God willing, it will happen some 20 years from now!

Ha! That is what I would love to do.....but some of us are not made out of money and I need to keep/maintain my 981 too.
I'm sticking to a Base Carrera but with $23k in options plus winter tires. Winter tires on a rear engine car will work just fine for most of my driving. For bad snow storms, any of our 911s will just turn into a snow plow anyway. I have a 4WD RAV4 for those days.
