Should I paint my gts wheels?

Why? To my knowledge, every one of the roughly 240 wheels I've ever owned has been painted, not powdercoated. The ones that get curbed (:coughcoughwife'scarscoughcough I have a mobile painter repaint them. They look perfect till she curbs them again.
This will be the first set of wheels I've changed color on, but I've had several sets fully repainted silver on used cars I've bought that were tired. Never had the repaints behave any differently than OEM paint jobs.
I've also had one wheel painted so that it was visible at the same time as an unrepainted OEM wheel, and you couldn't tell. This was done by a mobile wheel painting service -- guy comes around in a big van, jacks your car up, pulls the wheel, goes in the van and breaks the bead, cleans the wheel, dries it, sprays it two coats, puts it in a little heater after each coat, remounts and inflates the tire and reinstalls, all for $135-150, taking about an hour start to finish. While I wouldn't do that on a car I cared about, the results on my wife's Grand Cherokee were spendid.
On the Porsche I'm paying $1300 for 4. But this guy is the DaVinci of wheel painting. He comes to my house, jacks up the car in the garage, leaves it on four jackstands, hauls the wheels off to his shop, cleans, tapes (he has to meticulously tape the inner barrels since I'm leaving them black), sands, removes tape, cleans, retapes, sprays several coats of color, clear coats, says incantations over it, returns them to my house, reinstalls, etc. He also remounts tires and then has them balanced at his expense.
I expect the wheels to be better than the were from Porsche.

I for one can't wait for this trend of black rims is over. I hate the looks of them on a car. The only black rims I ever liked on cars was the Mopar poverty wheels with a center cap.
I agree change it over if you can

I am also getting over the black wheel thing. I went from hating them, to liking them, to really liking them, to getting tired of seeing them. That's why I powder coated my GTS wheels in bronze and the second set purple and went with liquid metal silver for my TTS.

All my previous cars had silver rims. I was never a fan of black rims. It looks sort of 'gangster' especially on dark SUV's.
My previous 982 had satin platinum which I liked - just dark enough to contrast the silver body color and hide the brake dust.
I purchased a CPO GTS with black rims. I like the look with Carrera white and would not change the color. But I don't expect others to agree...
BTW, I personally think brake dust is more of a problem with silver rims.

I was a huge fan of black wheels in the past, having them on my Subaru and Jeep as well. At the same time I also had a set of white TE-37 on my RX-7 and that was the polar opposite direction. The tires are pulled from those wheels and I am in the process of picking a new color for them.
I find that the detail of some wheels gets lost with black wheels. For the Jeep, the black on black look still looks ok IMO, but there is not much to the wheels on the Jeep.
The winter set of wheels for the 911 are OZs in bronze, and I really like how that looks. My wife prefers the bronze and thinks it shows how nice the wheels look. Am debating changing the colors of the GTS for that very reason. Additionally, my wife's vehicle has a set of OEM BMW wheels that look sharp in silver/black and again reinforced that a non black wheel is something to consider.
Brake dust is a problem regardless of color.
