Default Rev-Match

Is Rev-Marching only available on PDK 991.1's? Is it an option package that is part of Sport or Sport Plus?

Thanks

Rev matching available on all models. Right foot.

Who wants a computer to do it?

For manual transmissions it's enabled with Sport Plus mode. I don't know about DSG--doesn't it always rev-match?

On manual 991, rev matching is only available with Sport Chrono option, and as others have stated, only when in the sport plus mode. If you are looking at a used 991, I think the rev matching only became available sometime in the 2013 model year.

On 991.2 it is active with Sport (and Sport +) with Sport Chrono.

Never quite understood this. If you are going to use automatic rev matching why not just get the PDK? Isn't the fun of MT the heel and toe rev matching?

Heel and Toe MT is extremely engaging but just about NOBODY can do it at all - let alone well. Sure there are "many" enthusiasts on RL that will pipe in who are experts and know how to do it well, but they are the tiny tiny tiny percentage. Most people don't even drive a MT (by a long shot) let alone use heel and toe.

So the next best thing: Manual with rev matching. It's awesome and still way more engaging than pdk and much easier to master than heel and toe.

Not bringing up the pdk/MT debate for the 10,000th time, just answering the question.

Rev matching is just another invention and incremental step towards self driving cars just like Pdk, ACC, stability control, prebraking.

You don't need to heel and toe to rev match. Blipping the throttle as you downshift is really not difficult.

I first experienced the rev matching feature on a MT M4 and couldn't believe how stupid and annoying it was. On a PDK I get it. On a 7MT I just dont get the point - if you buy a manual then the whole point is because you enjoy the involvement of driving the car and deciding when to change up/down and when/if to blip.

Each to their own, and do what you love.

you do if you are braking at the same time, or you have to find some other fancy foot work technique.

Personally I find it difficult to toe and heel - size 12 feet doesn't help. I've found a technique that sort of works some of the time - braking with sole of right foot and rolling the edge of same foot onto the throttle pedal to blip.

Agree that rev matching / blipping is not difficult if you are just coasting.

I agree....except when you are braking hard into a turn while downshifting. That's the real value of heel and toe. I can't do it. The brake pedal is too high in a 981 anyway (my car). I've been driving manuals my whole life and I absolutely love the rev matching.

As you said, do what you love!

Rev match in the 991.1 7MT in sport plus only. No rev match in sport. I enjoy the rev match for one reason...the sound is amazing. When I take folks for rides, it brings a smile to their faces.

Also, no rev match in Sport Plus with PSM off. FYI.

This is true and a little known fact. The hard corp guys who want sport + with heel and toe opportunities and a more relaxed PSM engagement point can appreciate this feature. As for me, I will stick with PSM always on.
