I have a Cab, so am likely biased. But I think the Targa has all of the weight and complexity disadvantages of the Cab, but without the full top-down experience of the Cab. It does have a retro cool look, which plays well in the Porsche universe, but to me, that's its only raison d'etre.

That said, it may be more collectible in a long time. The less sense it makes, the lower the sales volume and perhaps the higher the collectibility.

Yes, the Targa 4S for me. It is stunning. It's true, though, that it's probably more popular in percentage terms with Porsche 'enthusiasts' who hang out on forums over the general population of Porsche buyers, if that makes any sense.

Targa's are limited in supply. Dealers receive fewer allocations of Targa's than other 911 variants except for the GT models. My dealer the 6th largest in the US had only one allocation until the fall. They were not sure how many more they would get after that.

Not sure if it's a demand or production issue.

Exactly the same with mine. Just a handful of allocations - I have to put the deposit down in January for a July build.

Although I think the Targa is the best looking of the bunch, (love the rear window for some reason) I would never buy one because I don't enjoy the sun burning the top on my head and arms.

I think the Targa has really stunning looks but when I saw one up close at the dealer I was put off by the fake SS finish on the bar.

Sorry everyone about overlooking the GTS! I went to the configurator to get all the models.

IMO, 3 options (coupe, cab or targa) or 5 options (narrow body coupe, wide body coupe, narrow body cab, wide body cab or targa) should have sufficed...

Feeling the love AC and couldn't agree more. Picking up my .1 MT NA GTS Targa in June.

You won't need anything near 25 years to be proven correct.

Yeah, it was a big reason why I went from the Boxster to the 911. Oh, it's nice out, let me put the top down. Oh I'd better put sunscreen so my face doesn't look like a baseball glove when I'm 40. Oh, now my hands are all gooey and I don't want to get sunscreen on the leather, I'd better go back inside to wash up. On a weekend drive it's fine but when it's your everyday commute, it gets old fast.
