When I went to remove the big plastic shroud that covers the battery area today, I noticed that the leading edges of the shroud were not fastened to anything - they were simply sitting on top of the metal contact points. Closer examination shows a wear point on the plastic and I suspect there was some kind of pin there at one point that securely fastens the shroud to the metal contact points.

Can someone confirm that this is the case and if possible post a pic of the piece I am missing?

I think you are missing clips on the plastic cowl. There is one on each side of the cowl, and the fasteners clip into the holes. From the picture, the pointy sides go into the hole and the flat edges slide into openings in the cowl.

Got some from the dealer about a month ago. If I remember right they were $1.30 each, so I bought a few spares as they are easy to bend or drop and the garage gremlin will hide them if you do.
