The Porsche Kool-Aid

I want to give Porsche a chance.
AMG I had a CLS 63, V8 turbo was a great engine but too quiet, not enough oversteer. Boring.
E60 M5 great engine, bad in winter. Traded it for a Maser GTS, great car.
The Porsche will be my DD. I need an exciting daily driver, must look good, be fast and responsive, and loud, and drive up snowy hills in winter, but not a track car. Do I have any alternative, other than an SUV?
My problem with the 997 C4S I had, way too much understeer and cowl shake.
So I will give Porsche a chance, not the best performance car, unless GT3, but I want my daily commute to be an invigorating one. And Porsche will charge me a lot for what I feel is an underperforming engine, 375 HP?
We will see, my dealer has a Carrera GT for sale, maybe good purchase as an investment to experience what Porsche is about, much cheaper than F40/50/Enzo right now.

Why was your 997 such a bad experience? i think for many of us the 997 was one of the better cars we have ever owned.

There is a huge upswing in exotic car prices the last few years, CarreraGT is lagging other Marques so may be good investment at this time.

I think it was the fact I had a Cab, may have compromised the handling experience. But I am an idiot because I decided on the Targa for my 991.2 build, the 5'2 blonde

Good point, now I seem like an idiot ( too late and too much wine).
The GT would be an investment, like a painting. Rarely driven, locked away, hoping someone would pay more for it in the future. My point was that it was an example of a true Porsche experience.
The exotic car market may do better than the 5% gains the markets are expected to do in the next few years, so may be a good investment, based on what Ferrari prices have shown since '08.

I have, and didn't like the Ferrari as well. Fit and finish, overpriced, high priced maintenance and upkeep. I would take a Porsche any day of the week. For one thing, I think they are more bullet proof! The Porsche (: Now if I were a rich man, I would still take the Porsche (:

Good call on the CGT. Purchasing a car you can't drive past 3/10ths unless you're a professional driver because it will ****ing kill you, as an investment to sit in a garage and possibly appreciate someday is absolutely the best way to "experience what the brand is about". I say do it.

Who is taking this OP seriously? C4S and CGT in the same conversation, please. Get a wrangler, put a Mopar exhaust on it and have at those snowy hills.

It's a passion for me. 14 year old boy on the farm and I had Excellence delivered to our house. Had my first Porsche, ugh, this is hard to say, over 30 years ago! Cheap 911S I used in college. Fast forward 30 years with marriage, mortgages, work and life and here I am almost 50 years old and finally looking for my next Porsche. For me it's the brand. I could have any Porsche 911 and I'd love it. They are iconic to me. I love the feeling of sitting in one. The steering wheel. The ignition on the left. The engine in the back. The sound. All of this talk about 991.1 vs 991.2 NA sound and Turbo sound means little to me. Hell, I drive a Tesla Model S P85! Not a ton of sound there, eh?
If you were severely disappointed in your first 911 experience I would echo the concerns of others. It's highly likely you'll be disappointed in the next one.
If you married a 5'2 blonde with a lot of opinions, marrying a 5'2 blonde with a lot of opinions who is 10 years younger for your next wife might not be the best choice.
Ask me how I know this.
