GoPro Camera Placement
Question for the group. I will be tracking my car at TWS in about 2-weeks. I have 2 GoPro cameras. When I tracked my Cayman GTS, I placed one of the cameras on the front windshield and the second to the aluminum brace behind the seats to capture the instruments, my stick shifting abilities (or lack of), etc. For anyone that has 2 or more GoPro cameras, where do you place them to get the best view of the road ahead and what you are doing in the car? Thanks

Someone who posted a video from VIR said he used the back window pointing forward - I asked because I thought he was using the glass sunroof.
Have you looked into Track Addict and Race Render? Very easy to use with a Bluetooth ODB reader, the overlays work perfect!

Thanks for the information. I was going to use the back rear window. I guess I can use my iPhone to see exactly where to place it. It appears it's going to be a trial and error until I get it placed where I want it to be. I do not have a sunroof (I guess that is the only downside) so I will have to use the rear mirror. As for Track Addict, I will use either the software app from VBox Sport or Harry's LapTimer.

Thanks. I was planning on using my iPhone for placement. Decided to buy the Rennlist GoPro Mount to place on my bumper. It will probably be really noisy due to wind noise but it will give a great view and sense of speed. I will either attach my second one on the front or rear windshield. Based on your results, probably the rear. Thanks

Meh I've done it before, ultimately you'll be disappointed, it will feel like you're going so fast then you'll download footage of a car driving around on pavement. Save the GoPro for when you jump off a 16' cliff.

Actually I found that if you set the GoPro on the dashboard (or bumper in DrGuerra's case) up for wide angle viewing you will get the appearance of speed. The one inside the car should be setup for normal viewing.
Of course overlaying your data onto the video adds an element of objectivity to the perceived video image - great for the camera in wide angle mode
