2016 targa here since August 2015. Completely silent. In fact quieter than my 2013 coupe was.

2000 miles and no creaks for me. Also attended my first autoX last weekend and I found the targa to be surprisingly nimble and capable, but again my first event so take that with a grain of salt. Love this beast though, its a beauty in my eyes =)

Best,
Tom

My friend and his wife regularly AutoCross his 991 Targa. They are usually in the top 3 for their respective class. Just saying.

Personally, I think that the Targa is the most beautiful of the 991 range -- with exception on the regular GT3. Perfect car for daily driving, coupe and convertible rolled into 1. However, the silver hoop needs to be contested by a darker paint color to make it pop!

I was made aware of "noise" issue concerning the Targa reading the internet. I just sold my 991GT3 and had an interest in the Targa. I have owned many convertibles and coupes and the Targa was on my bucket list.

I went to my dealer and the salesman handed me keys to a new 2016 Targa and said bring it back with some gas in it. I was gone for more than an hour. I drove it with the top up and top down listening for noise. There was highway driving and stop and go driving. Not once did I hear noise related to the top.

I found the Targa a blast to drive. It isn't a GT3 but few cars are. But I enjoyed the driving as much as the GT3. I like the half top feel and without a doubt at least to me the best looking 911 on the market today. As far as attention, I got more in the Targa than the GT3.

When I returned the car, I ordered a 2017 Targa with an early August delivery.

I really have to wonder if my issue is a "Version 1.0" defect. It was one of the first Targas off the line. I am glad the issue is resolved in newer cars.

Targas are the prettiest 911s in my view. The only aspect that stopped me is that I want to keep weight down for track. Similarly, track is the only reason this time I went PDK > MT. Andreas Preuninger knows something

A Targa is in my future for sure. And I am envious of those 911 drivers that have them - just not when on track
