Nearly 11% off isn't bad considering you still have a full warranty. The real Question , is it the same build you would do. I mean you could get 6% no problem. So your saving 5%.

Very good point NNN. It has every material option I would like (I can get over the lack of headrest logo), except for the rims. Comes with 20" Carrera Sport Wheels and I prefer the Spyder design. The savings are material and the trade value is above KBB which also helps.
Appreciate the feedback.

5K miles of which kind of use/abuse? that is the key point imho. First year model and if it has been used as a test vehicle, I would pass.

I wouldn't buy any test drive or "loaner car" (used to loan to people with a car in for service). I just don't want a car that has been driven by 100+ people.

When I buy a new 911, I count on 50% depreciation in the first 3 or 4 years.

Apparently not in 3, maybe in 4.

And from MRSP, not from what you paid.

How much negotiating room is there typically on CPO 911's? Is it similar to new cars?

Mine was listed at 96 a year ago, went down to 89, I did a deal around 85 (depending on the trade in valuation)... had to walk away and resume negotiations later...

first off, thank you @911Seeker for your help here!

secondly....it would be great if any owners who recently leased a 991 post what residual values and money factors were used in their lease structure/contract. in speaking to a Porsche salesperson earlier this year, he said that 2yr residuals were around 57%-60% and 3yr residuals around 54%-57%. can anyone validate this? i'm sure if i poked around the interwebs i could find this out. how about the cost of mileage? 5,000 per year, 7,500 miles per year, 10,000 miles per year, 10k+? I'd think that maybe the chart (below) that i found in the beginnings of the thread might still hold true.

-You add 5% to all residuals (values) for 5k miles/year.
-You add 4% for 7,500 miles/year,
-You add 3% for 10k miles/year
-You add 2% for 12k miles/year.

Or said another way, subtracting 5% from the 20% depreciation for a 5k mi/yr car after 12mo equates to a 15% depreciation figure, and which amounts to about $6k in lesser depreciation/higher residual in the example above (15% of 127k = $19k, 20% of 127k = $25k in depreciation).

anyhoot, any real life instances would be greatly appreciated!

thanks,

Thank you, oalvarez.

Some updated values as of today (car is now 4.5 years old and has 29k miles, 15 months and 7k miles have gone by since my previous post):
  • Edmunds, which allows to select some options (but not CPO), values the car for trade in at 60.4 (previously 76,4) as "clean" or 63 (previously 79) as "outstanding". For sale to a private party says price would be between 67.2 (vs 81,6) as "clean") and 70 (vs 84,2) as"outstanding". According to them, if I was going to purchase it from a dealer the price would be 73.7k (vs 86 last year). So values have gone down approx. $900 per month or 11k per year. The residual values for a "clean" car compared to the MRSP would be 46% for trade in, 51% for a private sale, and 56% for a dealer sale. If the car is "outstanding" those values would be 48%, 53% and 58%.
  • Cargurus now suggests a price of 83k (only 3k below 15 months ago!), but has a "sell fast" price of 74k (vs previously 82k!) and a "trade in" value of 72k (which would be equivalent to 77k with the tax savings). The residual values would be between 55% and 62%. These values are more in line with my expectations, given the age and mileage of the car, and the fact that 991.1 should be holding value well.
Please don't make me unsolicited offers based on any of those numbers, I am not planning on selling now, this is just informational...

Best

What I’ve found thus far and based on a 208 991.2 Carrera......will keep digging for more data.

add: would love to hear from current owners or shoppers as well!

36 mo, 5,000 miles, 64.5%
36 mo, 7,500 miles, 63%
36 mo, 10,000 miles, 61%

(5k mile lease is worth about 3.5%-4% in terms of depreciation over that of a 10k mile lease)

money factor around .0022 for tier 1 (5.2%), .003 (7.2%) and higher for tier 2
