991 door locking
In another vein, we also own a 2015 Ford Taurus SHO (heaven forbid!); a fantastic car! When we travel we keep one key permanently in the car as it has a key pad outside. The keypad responds to the key in the car or my pocket and nothing else. However, if I approach the car with a key in my pocket (regardless if there is a key in the car) and pull a door handle, the car unlocks all around. It will not do it if there is only a key in the car. In other words, the car knows where the key is. This is a technology that I have not found elsewhere. Please do not complain 'bout them 'merican cars unless you investigate their technologies. This SHO has technological advancements that far exceed Porsches, Mercedes, BMW we have owned. They just do not wish to advertise. We have owned a 2010 and now the 2015 SHO. Ford will terminate the SHO after 2017. What a shame!
freeman, my 911 and my crappy Nissan both know whether the key is in the car or outside in my pocket. I'm sure your Taurus is very advanced but I don't think the particular feature you describe is particularly unique.
My 2018 Acura MDX locks itself without having to push the key fog or the door handle. BEST FEATURE EVER!
