Default New Radar/Laser System Installed

I did not do the installation so all I have are a couple of finished pictures.

The system is a Stinger VIP and is Super Stealth.

Here a couple pictures of the Display and of the Receivers and Transmitters. The transmitter are the tiny 2 mm dots you see.

Now it needs real world testing.

Oh boy, went big dog! Please keep us posted real world feedback.

How many diffusers do you have?

First one I've ever seen installed on this forum.

The diffusers consist of a receiver and a transmitter. I have four on the front of the car and two on the back. So six receivers and six transmitters or a total of 6 diffusers.

That was confusing as hell wasn't it. Sorry. Guess the short answer is SIX.

The system also has front and rear radar detectors. The display shows the direction of the threat. K, Ka, or Laser. Or spot locations of possible threats.

I'm just beginning to figure it out.

What's the big center thing? Adaptive Cruise control?

Please take pics of rear laser diffusers.

The Big Thing is Adaptive Cruise. Can't decide if I Love it or Hate it. The looks of it that is. It works really well. It will brake the vehicle down to zero mph.

I'll get you pictures of the rear diffusers tomorrow.

Wow, great choice Arlan. I remember chatting with you about this a while back.

Who did the install for you?

I don't know that much about Stinger, but isn't the location of those heads too low on the car?

Also, where are your radar antennas located, behind bumper? Do you also have rear antenna for 360 radar coverage?

Finally, does you right leg hit the monitor at all, getting into or out of car or driving?

1. I hope they are not mounted to low. There is really no other place to put them. The two others are mounted 3 inches higher. In the louvered area. From what I read the active air control (louvers) do not close when you are in sport mode. The first thing I do every time I start the car is hit sport mode.

2. The radar antennas are located behind the bumpers. Yes, there is one in the front and one in the rear. The display shows the direction of the threat.

3. No, my leg never comes close to hitting the display.

They are really low but I don't see another place to put them. I wasn't willing to cut holes in the body of the car.

Wish I had a Laser Gun.

Rear heads seem really low too. Like I said, I don't know Stinger that well - they are supposed to be very sensitive - but I usually see heads mounted by rear license plates (that is what LEOs usually aim for). Plus, being so low, I expect the heads would pick up more road debris than if mounted higher. You should get tested.

I'd love to have it tested. What do I do? Go to my local police department and ask for a favor.

The front is about right but the rear is definitely lower than optimal. You should still be able to cover the license plate, but I would be worried about drift.

I'm surprised at the display/control location, would have looked a lot better in the ash-tray.

Soooooo....I never really got the point of these. I mean if the laser is already pointing at you then isn't it too late already?

I had one of the dash mounted ones for a while but it used to go off all the time and I was constantly tensed up either waiting for something to happen or looking for whatever made it go off.

I gave up with it and enjoyed driving a whole lot more.

My 2c...........

The laser receiver is also a jammer that activates as soon as the car gets a hit. That way the cop can't get a reading on the LIDAR gun. Very effective when installed and set up properly.

As far as the dash mount issues you had, thats probably one of the top 3 reasons one would get an integrated and installed system. Minimal false alerts and a lot more range.
