I recently had an alignment done and the steering wheel is now off-center (tilted clockwise when driving straight). I have the alignment print out and all of the specs look good.
How would this happen? Did the tech not straighten the steering wheel when performing the alignment? I was told to bring it back in and it would take 10 minutes to straighten the steering wheel. Are they able to straighten it without doing the alignment over again?
Thanks, the alignment is good, the steering wheel just isn't straight when the car is tracking straight (it's obvious enough that it bothers me). If they adjust the toe, won't that affect all of the other settings and require a new full alignment?
By an in-competent tech! They adjust the tie rods an equal amount on each side, one "in and the other "out". Done equally it will not effect toe, but if it were me I would insist they check it.
I don't get it - you would think tech would take car out for test drive and would notice this immediately. And to the OP, didn't you notice this immediately when driving car out out of the dealership?
I have a 2017 718 Boxster S I replaced the oem steering wheel with aftermarket Carismo steering wheel, this was done at a local reputable shop but after a day I noticed the steering wheel is slightly off to the right when the car is tracking stright. I did not have issues with alignment or steering being off center before the wheel change.
Is it because they didn't put the steering wheel on straight ? Or will a simple toe/alignment adjustment fix this? Should I have them take off the steering and out on again?
