The only wheels that would even make me remotely consider replacing the far and away best wheel on the planet, the Sport Technos, would be a set of Fuchs. Those things look awesome on any Porsche.
Yeah; Sport Technos are pretty nice. I'd give it some thought, however for the 3 piece SP16s above, in a completely brushed finish (not thrilled about polished/chrome rims).
I think most people who have sport technos have them because they like them. Maybe try liking carrera classics. People will trade them to you for for a tube of toothpaste.
what do you all think a used set of (almost new, less than 200mi) Sport Techno 2 wheels would sell for? i'm seriously contemplating purchasing a set of the 50th Anniversary wheels as my tires would fit perfectly on them. that and i think they look incredible on a black car.
edit: now that i look more closely at the 50th Anniversary rear wheel offset (et48 50th vs et68 ST2, both are 11.5"x20) i don't think the swap would work.
I know it's more of the classic look, but I personally don't see why everyone seems to love the 50th so much.
Well, they've got two things going for them. First, they're 5 spoke, and 5 spokes almost always look good, and racy. Second, they have that Fuchs-esque style to them, which a) is a great look and b) is classic Porsche. I still think the STs are a better looking wheel, but I'd take the 50th's as a next choice.
I'm shopping for a 2013 C2S cab and want to have Sport Techno wheels on it. The selection of cars for sale with those is limited, new ones with tires cost $7k and the availability of used ones on sites like wheel enhancement and ebay is scarce.
The responses in this thread convinced me to wait til I found a car with Sport Technos instead of planning to upgrade later, and I'm happy to report that I finally did. It turned out to be a C4S instead of a C2S so cost me a bit more, but getting the AWD was a nice-to-have for me anyway so I decided to go for it.
I bought it in San Diego and drove it back up to the Bay Area yesterday, enjoying the best parts of the PCH along the way. Helluva drive between San Luis Obispo and Carmel that I highly recommend even if you've done it many times before, as I have.
