1st track day in the GTS
This weekend was 'Piston Heads Sunday Service' at the Silverstone GP circuit which is about 2 miles from me, so I thought I would pop along. The 'Sunday Service' consisted of approx 500 cars of all makes, spec, and standard.

But for me what transpired was 3 x 20 minute sessions out on track.
The first two sessions of the day were cancelled due to ice, but the sun shone on the track and in most parts it started to dry up. I had an instructor with me for the 1st sessions which was very helpful as the the track is so wide some lines are hard to pick out. I only heard about 10% of what he was telling as the helmets and AWE exhaust did a great job of drowning out his tuition, but we made it around and the short track was pretty easy to remember.
This 1st session was a novice session and I shared the track with all manner of car including two Land Rover Freelanders driven by two lovely young female farmers. They made excellent mobile chicanes and kept out of trouble very nicely. Woodcote corner was still damp and a bit icy and gave many bottom clenching moments at around 100mph. I was going around Copse at roughly 80mph, the Grand Prix cars do it flat out at 180mph. Incredible.
The other sessions went to plan, with no mishaps and no mechanical issues. The brake pedal did feel a little spongy after the final session, but is all good today. I was averaging 10mpg.
With so many people there I have found some great pictures and comments about the whole day and my car!! I have put them right on the colour..
The Riviera Blue 911 GTS - my word what a sound that produced! Was hoping to ask the driver what exhaust was on it - best sounding one out there!
+1 for the best sound of the day. Although the Jag F-type R sounded rather naughty.
That is a lovely car you have there. We were heading indoors because it was so bloody cold but waited til you had gone round again before leaving
Your car sounds fantastic pal, me and my dad were stood near the end of this pits listening to your downshifts.
Also really enjoyed watching the very friendy chap in the beautiful brand new baby blue 991 GTS getting faster and faster as he worked with his instructor.
Top cars of the day for me; 570s that the McLaren guys had borrowed, mexico blue GTS, jeremy's elan.
Oh and I got black flagged in the final session for breaking noise limits. I was recorded at 106db, this is with the AWE switchpath exhaust. The limit was 102 db for the day...

looks like a fun day - bad news to hear that you blew sound at 106 - Ca GTS&AWE owners take note for Laguna Seca...
BTW I suggest you invest in a Chatterbox communicator or similar to enable you to hear your instructors better ...
