I woke my 2013 3.4 out of hibernation today. It had been on a battery tender and driven only a couple of times since Thanksgiving. The PCM system won't load the maps/navigation. Both the center screen and 4th gauge safe "loading maps" or "loading navi..." Everything else seems to operate normally. Same thing after restart.
Any ideas? Should I disconnect the battery for a hard reboot?
Is your vehicle outside where the GPS antenna can see plenty of the sky?
Occasionally, GPS units have to reload what is called "almanac data" if they have been moved or turned off for a long period of time. They normally get these updates periodically as the satellites fly over. If your GPS has been off for a long period, it may take longer. Before taking it in to the dealer, make sure it's outside with a clear view of the sky for about 10-15 minutes. If still nothing, then take it in.
Thanks for the suggestion. I had it outside for two days while I was at work and it didn't change. The car is at the dealer now and they couldn't fix it after updating the software. So I'm getting a brand-new PCM.
