^ ??? You mean the one that's exactly like the silver one sitting on my work bench right now that I replaced yesterday with the black thin-slat one on? Sorry, not following you.

I think he's suggesting paint the standard grill (your original one on your bench) black.

Ahh, you're probably right.

It's not really the "black" part per se I was after. I'm a 50-year-old guy who grew up idolizing 911s/934/935/936/956 etc because Porsche was so dominant on the race track. Every 911 I ever saw till modern times had the thin-slat black grills, so when the 911/50 came out with that as a retro touch, I was crazy about it. I just think the thin slats are a great homage to the history of the 911.

I think they should not bastardize the grills with HMTBL and give you this if you lack the good sense to order a ducktail:

Yep that's what I meant. With no "before" picture I was not sure which one came on the car in the 1st place.

What he said. Ridiculous. I like the contrast of the black, but of course I have grey on black as my color scheme including satin black rims.

whether the black grill has a CHMSL delete black plastic blanking plate ( as you have installed ) on your ducktailed GTS because the tail has an integrated CHMSL or is one with factory installed functioning CHMSL for the GTSs with the default retracting wing , passersby who dont know better will just assume the bissected slat and square hole is there for air flow into the engine bay and for you , as its owner , think of it as a " mod " you did for that same reason !

Doesn't the blanking plate from the regular grill come out and fit into the GTS brake light opening? Or is there still that large a gap?

Patrick, as you can see from the above two pics, it's really immaterial whether the BL is installed or the blanking plate, as far as visually with the light off. And yes, the blanking plate from the 3-slat grill fits in perfectly, and is installed in mine. It's way back under there, so from the side you couldn't tell if it's in or not. That side-shot I've posted would look exactly the same on a non-ducktail car, which I never realized. It's never bothered me before on standard GTSs I've seen, so I figure it's going to stop bothering me on mine once I get used to it.

Good to hear! I am looking for a fixed wing and have been told by several dealers that the black grills have to go. Don't want to give them up so I'm glad there is an option.
