My 2014 991 has XM/Sirius Option but no HD Radio. I have HD Radio in my '88 911 from a recent stereo upgrade I did when I was in Hawaii before coming to Germany. I really like the sound of the HD radio, especially when playing Hawaiian music.

Is there a way to "activate" HD Radio in the PCM? I'm hoping it's a software update just like adding Online Services which I did last week at the dealer.

Yes, if you opted for HD radio, there is a option to turn the HD radio on or off. I assume this is just a software add on, but not sure.

I did not get the HD Radio option. I know that if you did, you have to toggle it on through the Tuner Menu. Not sure if it's just a software install or if there an HD receiver hardware component outside of the PCM. They may make the PCM all the same (with integral HD Radio receiver) and you just have to have the software driver in the memory to access the hardware (HD Receiver).
