BBC had an article today, looks like it's Chris Evans and Matt LeBlanc (yes, from Friends). A third person hasn't been named yet (maybe they won't have three?).

I wonder what this does to the veracity of the rumors regarding Chris Harris and Sabine Schmidt?

Chris posted a note on patreon explaining his termination of that funding account ... looks like he has a different way of posting car videos to the
internet ... so it seems unlikely that he is #3 ... Sabine well they do need
someone who can drive ... so maybe she is still in the running...

Matt LeBlanc is a proper car guy. Hopefully he rises to the occasion. I have greatly enjoyed Episodes. I am guessing Harris is somehow involved in an on again off again capacity.

Matt is a real car guy like Tim , Jay and Jerry ...a long time 911 nut , too.

This show runs on supermarket tabloid names to attract its target audience of casual mass media viewers for whom the cars are not usually the main reason many tune in .....advertisers demand that , too.

Motorweek on PBS , is another " mainstream " long running broadcast franchise who some consider too nebishy since their reviews , though accurate , are so 1960/70s -dry that they could be reviewing a 918 vs a Camry and you'd think it a fair comparo while nodding off .

Then there are today's interweb video- only car sports car " reviewers " and who in order to generate advertising paid clicks , produce product that are just a series of slow motion ( because they were probably only going 30 mph on tires deflated to 7 PSI each for the videography ) opposite- lock slides around a canyon turn or two with motor sound frequently drowned out 100 % by Wagner or techno .

Won't judge until I see the new show, but it'll obviously be impossible to replicate the magic of the previous team. Hopefully, the production values and creativity is still there, and these guys are able to do something with it. IMO, Top Gear was 80% personalities and 20% the amazing production value of everything.

Why couldn't Jeremy have just gone to his room and eaten snacks out of the minbar...

Top Gear is a chicks and dudes mass-audience car related TV show , not like nebishy Motorweek on PBS , another " mainstream " long running broadcast franchise .
I cant even watch that show ... the main presenter's voice drives me nuts,
he talks as if you had just called 777Film!

"if you know the name of the car you want to review, press #1 now!"

Matt LeBlanc huh. Interesting. Didn't know he was a car guy. I have literally no experience with him except as Joey on Friends. We shall see I suppose.

Jay Kay from Jamiraquai would have been an interesting choice, but perhaps not as humorous?

I thought Chris Harris and Sabine Schmidt were to host it? Or was that just a hoax?

^^^ that was the commonly repeated rumor. Along with Chris Evans.

I guess I'll reserve judgement until it airs and hold out hope for the original guys on Amazon.

WRT to MotorWeek, it's like a car show hosted by Barnie, minus the Purple suit.
