Default Black Edition

Sorry for the newbie question but was wondering why the 2012 BE's are numbered and 2016 BE's are not.

As many as they could sell..... j/k...No value to it tho pre-owned. Just a good options list including discount from a la carte.

My 2016 C4 Black Edition is not numbered but, you are right, the 2012 997 Black Edition did have the numbered plaques delineating, i.e. No. 150 of 1911... Not sure if the 2016s were limited to 1911 units...

I believe the '16 were limited to 1911 like the 2012. If you wanted a black base, the black edition is a great bargain.

A friend (kinda) mentioned that parts left over is used to make the BE so they can sell more cars being because of the new model change.

Yes, that's the whole point of the black editions. Porsche has upgraded quite a few options at a discount simply to move a product.

just leased a 2016 Carrera today.....i must say that i'm really happy with it thus far even with it being (slightly) lesser optioned which is exactly what i was after given that we'll have it for 24mo or less. great price point given that the roll-out of the new 991.2 is right around the corner. fwiw, there are so few of these around in the local market. fantastic Porsche quality, heritage and design, in a color and wheel (Jet Black/Sport Techno) combo that i like. almost, almost pulled the trigger on a M4 but glad i didn't......because nothing drives like a Porsche.

add: there is nothing truly special about the Black Edition other than the slight rebate that you get for some of the included options....if you like black on black 911s with some goodies thrown in, it's not a bad way to go. a beautiful car, Porsche through and through, works for me.
