GTS brake upgrade to GT 3
Has anyone tried putting the GT3 steel rotors on a GTS that has 13.5 inch front steel rotors? It is totally frivolous and unnecessary, I just like the look of those twenty inch wheels more filled up with brakes.

If you like the look then go for it. But in terms of functionality and driving dynamics, you won't gain anything. In fact you will increase your unsprung weight and rotational inertia. Handling will suffer and so will acceleration.

Wow that must slow the GT3. It has 380mm steel front and rear, whereas GTS is only 340 front and 330 rear. Seems inconsistent that Porsche would allow the burden of heavy brakes on a car that they did not allow a slower tranny.

I do have the steel brake 380mm from Turbo on my C4S . To be honest I don't feel any different between stock brake and upgraded one but the look yea it looks more aggressive for sure
BTW you will need to upgrade your calipers to fit the 380mm rotors (your stock calipers won't fit the bigger rotors)

Guess I shouldn't be surprised at this response. Comparing a lighter weight, shorter geared, more powerful car to your GTS. Hey go ahead, put the GT3 breaks in. While you're at it, how about the wing? It's a 0 drag wing.

The GT3 is a track-oriented car. More rotor surface area means better heat dissipation which means more consistent stopping power over the course of a track session. The benefits certainly outweigh the costs for the intended application.

over the 996 turbo setup that the 1st generation 996 GT3 had - entirely due
to the earlier car's inability to manage heat dissipation which led to rapid
degradation of brake performance on-track *and* increased rotor wear/cracking over time.
Also note, that Porsche (the bastards) are now using the GT3 (optional) PCCB setup on the 991.2 S cars ... although that decision has probably more to do
with operational/production efficiency than anything else...

yes, the heavier brakes will decrease performance a little, but for everyday street driving like a sane, normal person does, there really is no downside. If you like the look, go for it.

my *guess*is that you would need the calipers to match; either because of
rotor radius or offset differences ... better hope that it doesn't impact the
F/R bias either.

This kit will retain your stock calipers (front and rear) with a spacer so you can have a bolt on installation for those big rotors w/o having to spend extra money in buying GT3 caliper.
Since CS/GTS are not intended for tracking, so we will design the rotor 2mm thinner than GT3, so you will have the look and benefit of bigger rotos w/o the weight penalty:
380x32* front (vs. GT3 380x34)
380x28 rear (vs. GT3 380x30) - CS/GTS rear calipers limit rotor to 28mm
Our front 380x32 two piece rotors will be 22.7 lbs, still lighter than stock's 340x34 (@24.5 lbs) by about 2 lb.
Below pictures show the CS/GTS caliper on 380mm rotor installed with RB caliper spacer.
*Although it's 32mm but they are built for track duty; Same disc used for Mustang GT500, 997 cup & Maserati Quattroporte GTS.
If you prefer to have 34mm they can be requested. Both 32 and 34mm rotor use the same hat w/o affecting the offset thanks to RB's patented center mount design.
Both Center Lock and 5-lug are available.

We also have an adaptor (pic below) made for this conversion, however it will not be needed with our spacer kit.

all depends - they may have changed the calipers and/or wheel carriers; minimally a PET comparison of the .2 and .2 components might determine
compatibility, otherwise probably some measurements would need to be
taken to determine this... it would be nice if that was the case
