Try parallel parking at night in a thunderstorm without it....
Pffftt....I have a Ford Escape for that. Press a button on the dash and it parks itself, no kidding. Here's a video I made of its party trick, my hands never touched the steering wheel. Low-tech, over-priced Porsche doesn't even have a back up camera, much less self-parking. are we suckers or what?
Love the rear wiper. Specced it on my GTS. Was a must have option. Either way, it wouldn't sway me from not getting the car if you didn't want the wiper.
I drive in the rain, and have never missed not having a wiper. I do apply RainX to all windows regularly though. In colder climates where it gets frosty, it might be a really nice thing to have.
I am not a fan of rear wiper or sunroof on 911, for me it kills the lines and is a deal breaker. Everyone is different, for some the wiper is a necessity due to daily use &/or climate. I don't use my car on a daily basis and special water repellents applied on rear screen take care of occasional need. I feel the same about my aircooled 911 - some use a clear bung on 964 to get rid of the rear wiper and some go as far as fitting a new rear screen. Same with sunroof, some guys are willing to pay 10k more for a non sunroof model and some go so far as replacing the roof section to get rid off it.
No climate on Earth justifies the wiper. Other than that,
And thank you for the sunroof comment as well. Of all the improvements made to the 991 no longer being forced to pay for a sunroof tops the list.
Hopefully by now the OP is pricing new rear glass into the purchase price!
1. I like the rear wiper. I just purchased a GTS and wished it had the rear wiper. My GTS is a weekend car and likely not going to be driven in the rain, rear wipers themselves are almost worthless anyway but this is more of a Porsche legacy than anything else. The extra hardware looks cool.
2. Don't trade it. You will get hammered even with the tax savings. I always sell private if I can. Alternatively its a great daily.
They are giving me 44K for a 13 with 17 k miles, I was tempted by tax savings but just don't feel that any of the newer cars for that money are nearly as good, decisions, decksions...

I hear you

In the interim I found a '14 911/50 CPO which did not have a wiper. I drive my Porsches in all weather year-round and not having the wiper on the 991 has been sorely missed several times. I don't think the wiper design detracts from the look. The 991 is phenomenal. Good luck!
Congrats, and thanks!

I too struggled with the rear wiper on that (or exact same) build, but I have to say my 993 C2S had one and it didn't bug me back then.
No this is in PA

Obviously it can be removed and a cap can be put in the hole. I've done it with multiple SUV's as I don't even like it there.
If want to do it right, just get a new piece of rear glass without the hole in it.
Keep the M! Post pics of it. If anything sell to an enthusiast instead of trading it.
I hear you, I have aleo been looking at the sapphire blue one you posted, that car turned me away since the sport design mirrors were replaced with powered mirrors and yes the power steering plus. Also I am not still sure if I want a dick tail. Anyway I am hoping to keep the M as advised, will post pics side by side hopefullly if this goes through.

Nice car!!
Thanks for all the awesome comments! Even though I would not have ordered my car with sunroof or rear wiper, neither is absolute deal breaker IMO but it did give me pause to post this here and hear some opinions. It is almost impossible to find a car exactly the way I want, this one seems to be as close as I could get.
Rear wiper is great for clearing water or dew after the car has been parked. For driving in the rain not so much, the water just runs off. Its standard in Oz so I had it in both my 997's.
Seem to be highly regarded. Like the 991.1 will be.
2007 to 2013 Stg for E92 M3s, 30K coupes, 10K sedans and 16K cabs.
When I sold my 997.2 I ordered the last of the 2013s loaded w competition pack 6-speed leather and sunroof (i know but i love em) e92. Should have kept that car - loved the compact size, 8K rpm v8 roar and low end civility - but then I wouldn't have found my way to my new 991s!
