My 991 is now out of warranty

In 20 years of having a driving license, I've also gone through 30+ cars. I see no reason to get rid of this one though. Most likely the last manual car I'll buy and my kids should know how to use a clutch. I can't believe you're even considering getting rid of it for a mini, you'll be kicking yourself in 1, 5, 10 years for sure! Great write up, which Indy shop will you use in town?

I also had a mini cooper S (convertible) and my 2015 base 911. After 3 months of owning both, I sold my mini. I agree with you on having one nice car and just drive it... but just like you, the new mini JCW convertible could be tempting if I want to get in a fun car with a lower cost again.
But than again ... how much more will your 911 depreciate? Likely not that much more as the trade-in-low-ball and the depreciation of your new mini combined. So I would say, sell the mini, miss it and enjoy your 911.
Great write up, I would love to see some interior pics to see how the seats wear.

Keep the 911 no doubt. I should have a much cheaper commuter car for my 140 mile drive to work and back everyday. I don't. I like driving too much and need the sports car attributes to weave around all the idiots on the road everyday. If I am going to spend that much time in a car everyday it may as well be the car I really want to be in. Your car is worth what's its worth now as it will be in the future with trade in or resale so keep it. Wow what great shape it is in. I am planning to rack up huge miles on my car but it is why I got the 911 is that it will have more value remaining in a few years with 80K on it than the alternative cars that I was thinking about (with my Audi affliction) another Audi S or RS...I did trade in my RS7 for my 911 as it was too big for the daily weave in traffic, thirsty and a likely a depreciation monster if I put the miles on it. And other brands...any MB would be worth nothing, and not much better for BMW. My family and friends would do an intervention knowing I have gone insane (due to my love of cars) if somehow I got a practical Toyota or Honda for the drive. Though after reading Motor Trend and Automobile this past month apparently a new Camaro may be rather enjoyable.

Scott: think i recognized the bike before the 911!
I will get some seat pics later for those who have asked. Mine are truly looking like new. I think perhaps the base leather is tougher than the full leather option? I am also careful getting in and out, and having a relatively slim "athletic" build helps. I have done nothing to the seats since new other than occasionally wiping them down with a damp washrag.

Good article. A friend had my body shop pull the bumper and do an oil change on his 2014. They took a hour and charged him $75.00 labor plus parts. Great idea. They said it was child's play.
I plan on doing the same and keeping mine. The local dealer wanted $380 for an oil change and $225 for brake bleed. Nuts. Shopped around and my local Porsche shop that works on Porsche race cars did it for half.
Oh, my dog approves of the stone guards. Magnetic.
