And we can't change any of this by playing with the factory settings eh? We can't simply tell sport to be on at start?

You don't have to wait until the oil temp is 190. 120 is warm enough for full throttle.

This is encouraging news.
I have been swayed by many posts on this forum stating that a 190 degree oil temp should be attained prior to WOT or rpm's over 4,000. If this advise is proving to be overly cautious in nature, it would help with my frustrating lack of patience as I wait for the needle to get to that magic number.

Just realized you guys were talking in Fahrenheit. I was waiting forever for my oil to hit 120c celsius!

I believe selecting SPORT MODE on the 991.2 defeats the START/STOP function, as it does on my 2016 991. So, those who hop in and hit the SPORT button every time, won't have to worry about START/STOP.

Yes you can. Here is a mod where the car will default to sport mode upon startup, just send your buttons module for reprogramming.

I have many different driving moods when I get in my GTS. Most of the time I start it out in ECO mode when exiting the neighborhood to keep the noise down out of respect. Sometimes I could give two ****s about sound control and I throw it in sports mode w PSE before leaving the garage. Just depends on how I feel.

Can't see myself spending 2 bills on auto sport mode mod just so I don't have to press the sport button.

For me, the actual press of the sport button changes my style of driving from calm to more aggressive. It's as if the car and I are warming up together. When she's ready and you hit sport the exhaust sound changes and it revs up....hits you in your core. The 991 has so may different moods and I like experiencing them all on every ride.

All that said I would probably be switching the car from sport to Eco if it defaulted to sport....eh maybe not, but hopefully you get my point.

Sport doesn't shift to 7th, but why would you drive in auto anyway unless you were eating a plate of carnitas tacos in stop and go traffic?

Also I don't care what the buttons are labeled, but I would like PSE to come on automatically.

I think Plenum should be about to do a DIY on that one?

actually sport+ doesn't not shift into 7th... sport AFIAK does.

Correct Larry. Shifting to 7th is delayed in Sport, but not blocked like Sport+. The other consideration I have about normal vs sport at start up is how long it takes to come up to temp. Although I haven't put a stopwatch on it the car seems to warm up faster in normal mode. When the car gets to 155-160 (oil temp) then I'll hit sport (assuming I'm not in heavy traffic!).

Correct. I know because I always have to "shift" from Sport+ to Sport on the interstate to take advantage of the lower revs of 7th gear.
