Hi everyone
Have been lurking on rennlist for 3+ years, starting when I was looking for advice on how Porsche Exclusive works when I was speccing my 981BS with an custom interior (thanks Eduardo for countless posts and all the insight!!).
After a 2 year long love affair with the Boxster or the canyon roads in the Santa Monica mountains, my wife and I started to talk about a 911 so that we could have the kids come along eventually (we like road trips). Originally we were just toying with the idea as we both loved the Boxster so much but then Porsche first released the GTS, which got my head spinning, and then the turbo rumours for the 991.2 started to circulate...
Needless to say, these two factors accelerated the decision process and while we were both very sad of letting the Boxster go, we decided to yet again custom order our GTS as we still could get an allocation (MY15)
The original idea was to do a custom interior for the GTS as well, but unfortunately Porsche refused to cave in on Exclusive orders despite many attempts on my side to make them think differently
Having said that I always knew that I was really looking for an expression of a 911 that sort of was GT+S - a granturismo in terms of look & feel, but sport in terms of spec.
So, ended up with a Espresso/Cognac interior with lots of leather - and also a Manual box, Sports Seats & PASM Sport
. The major debate I had with myself was whether to go for sunroof delete or not, but after a while I realised that I will miss the cab feel from the Boxster too much so ended up with the Pano Sunroof instead. Most quirky option is probably the roof rack - for those road trips ![evilgrin](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/evilgrin.gif)
After some 5000 miles I really have to say that I love driving this car. It doesn't really matter if I putter along the PCH or rip up one of the canyons, it always excites me and I always look forward to going down to the garage. It also feels like it's really loosening up now both engine and chassis wise and I'm also starting to get a better feel for the 911s weight distribution. I have to say that to me the 981 really makes you feel like a rockstar behind the steering wheel, whereas the 991 is a bit less accessible as you have to push it more. Once you do however, making the rear end come alive, it rewards you amazingly well.
One thing I noticed after the switch was that 2 seaters probably for aren't me. As much as I loved driving the Boxster on canyon roads, I always got a little bit uneasy on longer drives after 2-3hrs in the car. After switching to the 911, I've never had that feeling. Who would have thought that after all those years dreaming of a 2 seat sports car?
Because of the Sport Design mirrors on the GTS, the switch also rendered me two useless euro spec door 981/991 mirrors from the 981 so if you're interested, please check out my ad in the parts thread and PM me.
Attached some photos of the GTS and also one tribute photo to the Boxster
- that someone now hopefully enjoys and takes good care of

Nice introduction and congratulations on your new car! Makes me misty for the roads on which I learned the joy of driving in the twisties.

Nice. Love the color.
How did you get "joie de vivre" on the door sills Porsche did it or third party?

Thanks guys!
I know it's a different take on the GTS but likely being the last NA Man (except the coming R) it's a keeper so I wanted it to be more personal.
STG991 : My thought was more french riviera way of iife but german sports car engineering

Rearward facing baby seats work great per se but essentially render the passenger seat useless, making the drive special dad time
