The edge is different and I believe the R101 is a touch lighter. Either works for me.

R101 is more of a competition focused wheel. It tends to be a bit lighter and stiffer than it's P101 counterpart. The bead also comes with standard knurling to prevent tire slippage under stress!

R101's are more Motorsport oriented, so more weight has been removed from all aspects of the wheel but mostly from the sides of the spokes and the pocketing around the lug seat. Strength has been added where it needs to be, which ultimately creates a perfect track day wheel for your ordinary HPDE guy or your hardcore race teams. As TAG mentioned, bead seat knurling is standard on these wheels which prevents tires from slipping on the wheel. Certainly an awesome sight to see a Cup car with R101's:

Some high resolution images of both below. The biggest visual difference is around the lug pockets where the R101's are deeper.
