Help me chose, base loaded with low miles or S with double the miles?

Three Wheelin'
Just went through this, got the S, and love it. Can't go wrong though. And I wouldn't worry about resale value, you don't even have the car yet!
All things being somewhat equal, they should both depreciate at about the same rate over the next few years since the major depreciation has already taken place. So buy a car at 68 and sell at 48? vs. buy a car at 74 and sell at 54? Same cost to you but you got to drive an S instead of a base for 2 or 3 years. That's how I rationalized it financially.

I'd drive both and determine if the "feeling" of the S was worth the premium. Imo, it's not. But everybody's opinion differs. I'm not a big numbers guy, so I don't care about a few ticks on the clock to 60 or what not. I am big on the way the car handles and sounds more so than speed. That's why I say drive them if you can.

base versus S
Either car will be a joy to own---
In my opinion--get the S. With the new turbo 911's just around the corner---with their huge torque advantage---my opinion is the base 911's will take the bigger hit in depreciation.
An S will be easier to drive around town and easier to sell (even with higher miles)
These cars are purchased for many reasons including "curbside" appeal...I have driven the base model and thoroughly enjoyed it---The S has more torque and it is better suited to drive around town---the stoplight races...lol
A base will never be an S---and you will know this and probably sell it or trade a base for an S in a years' time or think about it the entire time you own the Base----
Either car is a great choice
Cheers

We all have different wants and needs. I don't have "S" envy. I don't want PASM, SPASM, PDCC, PTV (I sort of want PTV), sunroof, power seats, or PDK. I want the 3.4, a manual trans, safety gear, and track time.
So for me, the base model with lower miles would be a very easy choice.

A few things I probably wouldn't live without:
Full leather interior.
The keyless entry only if it included the easy entry feature and memory seats (I don't know if they are 2 separate options or 1)
Does either one of them have PDCC?

Thank you all for the feeback. I spent time driving and listening to both engines. Honestly the sound of the base is just perfection. I didn't notice much of difference in pickup at all. With the exhaust button pushed the base model sounds like a race car! Considering it's loaded the way it is I paid and its sitting in my drive way. It doesn't have keyless or backup cam. I think that's all it's missing. I would have loved the back up cam but I have not seen a base with the performance options of this one anywhere. It does have memory seats and has the feature of auto moving the seat back to let me out. I'm so happy with my purchase. I would have liked the keyless for ease of getting in but I actually love taking the key out knowing my childhood dream of owning a Porsche has finally arrived. Thank you all for the advice. I joined the club!!

Some people like the standard Carrera and think it better. Andrew Frankel of Motorsport magazine for one. I bought an S after driving both, as it "felt better" to me, but can't say exactly why. Low miles and CPO are very important, however. Get the one that feels right to you. That's all that really counts. You can always sell and get another one later!

Thank you all. I'm so happy. Only change I would think about doing is the sports steering while. I worry it could open up can of something going wrong...like a rattling of some sort. The car sounds perfect and I don't want to regret it. Is the wheel change a safe change or has anyone heard of issues such as new unwanted noises or the steering function or adaptive lights not working?
