Porsche's limited editions are usually only a legend in the owner's mind.

I think it depends on the edition eg the 997 Sport Classic-tell me that is not an incredible/collectors level car.

Jim I said "usually" & you're correct -with just 250 offered for $200,000+ a piece new back in 2010, the 911 Sport Classic is an unusual proposition.

Totally agree with you.

But this "feel good" feeling when driving it is irreplaceable by most other cars on the street. The possible or not too possible appreciation of car value in the future is totally irrelevant.

Honestly, none of us (I hope) need to sell our cars for food. Feeling good everyday is more than good enough for me.

Actually I did not know they were that much originally. Maybe they weren't such an amazing investment!

Which one should I buy????

Help!!!!
With only 20 available, I'm surprised it is this easy to get one!

It's got some unique upholstery, roof, paint, spoiler, and rear bumper. What am I missing? Oh, and stripes. Otherwise it is a GTS. No?

i like to drive my cars first and foremost -- imo great cars are made to be driven, period.

the collectors item/bubble wrap thing has really limited appeal to me since it would create a conflict in my mind when i may want to drive it... so i pass on this form of car ownership

that having been said, i rather like my collection of cars (that i drive...) LOL

Default Buy the Rennsport

Why? One of twenty five is real, regardless of the naysayers and you can drive it on the track as well as on the road. The GT3 or GT3 RS, which are both spectacular, are fantastic on the track and a Chiropractors dream come true if you try and drive them for long stretches (yes, I speak from experience). Lastly, look at the PCA Club Coupe as a barometer. Sweet color for sure, but same upgrades as the Rennsport and someone sold there car in less than a few hours after listing for $195 and two others are listed at $220k and $250k (and those come from a family of 60)..

BTW - you really cannot go wrong either way

I recently took delivery of my Targa GTS, the ride quality, sound and performance are a pleasure for daily driving compared to the balance of other Porches I own. Unless you plan on tracking your car a lot I think the GTS is a better car and will be more enjoyable for you and your significant other, it's so smooth you can actually have a conversation in it or take a phone call....lol

Regarding the Rennsport Edition, Porsche never offers a total 25 of anything. That's special regardless if only in my mind or to be determined over time by others. Either way I am very happy to have 1 of 25 and my brother the #2 of 25.

Congrats! Those look like the cars that showed up at Paul Miller. If so, I hope to see them at some local events next spring.

The answer is always to drive them both and then decide. The wonderful thing about rennlist is that it is full of very cool Porsche owners, that are typically generous with other Porschephiles.

I'm sure you could find a 991 GT3 owner and a Rennsport owner to let you drive in their cars, within a couple hours of where you live. I test drove one of the first three 991 GT3s to be delivered to the US due a rennlist contact, and it sold me on the car, and informed my options when ordering.

For me personally, its no question. The GT3 is a completely different animal than the rennsport aka GTS with slight cosmetic touches. The engine sound, power, gearing, and handling is noticeably better on the GT3.
The GTS/rennsport flies more under the radar, is quieter inside, better rear visibility, while still very impressive to drive.

I like them both, but in different ways. Drive them both, and you'll find your personal answer.
