Default What's the verdict? Is the GTS 7MT the same as C2S/C4S?

I feel like I've seen a lot of reviews/posts stating that the manual transmission in the 991 GTS is the best ever, even better than the C2S and C4S. However, no one can seem to confirm that the stick shift has actually changed from the C2/4S to the GTS.

At this point, with all of you owners who have driven both, what's the verdict? Better? or the same?

I haven't driven a manual C2S or C4S but i will say my manual GTS is the best manual i've ever driven. Absolutely a pleasure to drive.

I read somewhere that the MT (shifter?) in the 991.1 GTS has been updated from early 991.1 C2/C4/S. But later C2/C4/S MT will get the same updated MT from GTS.

Any sources to confirm this? I've test driven ~5-6 7MT GTSs before placing my order, and they all felt identical to my 2013 C2S 7MT. That is unless my 2013 is already considered an "updated" trans.

Page 22 of "Total 911 The Porsche Magazine" - 991 GTS Special Edition

"But the GTS's most significant change centres around the revised seven-speed manual transmission."
......
"Porsche has acted on criticism from both customers and within the company to improve the seven-speeder's shift quality ... It's revelatory: the gearstick moves through its gate with a slicker precisions, ..."

"That's not just good news if you're after a manual GTS, but any 991, with Porsche saying the improvements to the shift will feature on all Carreras."

Since the GTS came out for MY 2015 and 2016, I don't know if 2013 991 was updated.

Damn, I have Total 911 and completely missed that. Thanks for following up. I can't imagine the shifts being any "slicker" than my 2013, but that's great news.

So in other words yes, its the same.

Again: its an options package, not a model.

I asked Guido that specific question: did he feel that there was a difference between the C2S and the GTS shift feel and he said no.

Quick Reply: What's the verdict? Is the GTS 7MT the same as C2S/C4S?
