Default Adding SPASM sway bars to a non-PASM C2?

Anyone do this? They are thicker diameter which is what I am looking for. Looking to pair them with Techart springs.

Question is if they fit, or need different sway bar links. I read one post that said they neede different links, but can't confirm if they what links they would be. Thanks.

Call Tarrett Engineering. They're Porsche away bar experts.

Ok thanks - waiting on a response. Any other tuning houses that would have spent time testing/developing a spring and sway bar combo? Seems like Tarrett focuses on sways, while Sharkweks only has springs. Have yet to try Elephant, TPC, etc.

My ultimate goal is to replicate the X73 suspension on Caymans and Boxsters on my 991.

As far as I've heard Elephant is very good. They know 911 suspensions very well. But they're expensive.

If you really want to lower the car (would really recommend proper coilovers) go with Eibach springs. They'll drop the car 1 inch. You'll be 0.4 inches higher than the GT3.

Also, get lighter wheels if you want that 981 feeling. Dropping the unsprung weight will do wonders for turn in and nimbleness, not to mention what it'll do for suspension frequency.

Also, the lesser weighing rotors of the base car already help with unsprung weight. The base car is really fun when done right - it has a wildness to it.

Yes I've looked at Eibach's, and have heard that they make the springs that Techart sells. Not sure if there is any difference - honestly the only reason I am in favor of the Techarts right now is because I have seen two reviews/endorsements of them. Haven't seen anything on the Eibachs. I don't want the drop too severe - would love to target SPASM height. Read the Techarts drop you to slightly above SPASM, which is perfect.

Would love coil overs, but I think they are outside of my budget (2-3k for springs, sways, parts and labor).

I am totally with you on the I sprung weight - I used drive a Miata back in the day which I put 16s on. What a lesson in what heavy wheels can do to your car. I am keeping the stock 19s.

I believe you can probably pick up a set of Bilstein Damptronics for just under $3k.

oh wait your non-PASM ... ignore me!

what about a set of Bilstein Clubsports?

Found out that both KW and Elephant Racing sell kits that reuse your regular dampers (PASM and non) to make a coil over kit. Costs about 1500, which is not bad at all.

Still even with this, what am I getting? An ability to change my ride height (which I probably will never do) and corner balance? Is that really worth it?

Using lowering springs messes up the factory dampening frequencies. The car will skip and jump on the road, not much contact. That's the problem - not the ride height. With coilovers you don't run into dampening issues since you select the frequencies.

you can also select a different set of springs as well.

Note that I believe the elephant kit requires grinding off of a tab on the front shocks that I dont think the KW H.A.S requires

tpc racing has 991 sways, will be fine with stiffer springs like kw or techart

Have you lowered your car with lowering springs? How's the dampening? Does the car skip and jump on the road or is it planted?

yes, I'm lowered on KW h.a.s. kit + TPC sways + Powergrid end links (and Tarrett 991 Camber hats if u plan to track) and am happy. very planted but correct heights and alignment are key.

TPC have tested their sways with eibach too iirc

The dampers are very sensitive to height, too low and yes you will bump and skip.

are you PASM? - you should look into adding TPC DSC for the 991 and you can play with the dynamic damping to mitigate this

Gem, I noticed you tried the GT3 sway bars with the Tarrett links. What specifically did you not like about that set up?

Thanks for discussing.
