This makes sense, because a 'GT3' with a manual is going to be slower than
a GT3 with a PDK-S ... so by simply rebranding this as an 'R' they can somehow
spin the same marketing pitch they did for the GTS vs. GT3 ... and in terms of
additional development, its a bit of a parts bin exercise (clearly from the
spy shots)

voila!

not as exciting say as a NB Carrera stripped with a X51 engine mated to a 6MT box like the one in the Cayman, on 19" wheels with less rubber and
either PASM or regular suspension (no PDCC, no RWS etc etc maybe even no
PTV+)

I'm not to sure about the chasing history bit. The original 911R is a super cool car. But to take a 991 and turn it into a good looking R will be hard.

I love the gt4, it's 6 speed MT feels great in that car. Despite the long gearing I really liked it. I absolutely loved the 991gt3 on the road. (Still to track one). And after reading all you guys reports I'm sure it's amazing. To me, the PDK felt great and really matched the rest of the car.

I might not see this clearly because I'm lucky to own some great MT Porsches, but I just don't think the MT suits the 991s that I've driven.

Hopefully they can make it work.

The problem I see with this is that it effectively requires significant transmission re-design, since AFIAK none of the current transmissions are easily modified as
the old GT3 G50 was supposed to be...

it would be nice though
That is what I was saying a close gear 6 Speed ration manual. If Porsche was wanting to go after the true track enthusiast they would dog leg first with first on the opposit side; close ratio of course. Call me crazy
