Default C2 vs C2S - MSRP Discounts in So Cal

Hey folks, not sure how many people out there are buying right now, but I thought I'd throw this question out to see if the wisdom of the crowd could help me unearth of a few details about the new 991.1 market.

I've ordered a C2 - primarily because I really want a manual and there aren't that many out there in the used market it all. Or I thought I wanted a manual. Recently, I've been opening my mind up to a PDK.

From every dealer I've talked to (4 in so cal), nobody has an allocation for a C2S - only C2. But now that my requirements are less strict, I'm wondering if it migh better to stalk the market for C2S inventory and punt the idea of ordering all together.

My thought process is this.. the dealer is giving me 3% off MSRP for my order car, though I've heard its easy to get 6% off an S car.

If I spec my C2 as desired, the MSRP is around 103-105. So two questions:

1) Is 3% off market rate for a C2 order in So Cal

2) Is 6% more inline with what I might get for buying on the lot inventory?

If 3% is market for a discount and thats the best I could hope to get, I i might be better off getting a less optioned C2S with 6% off, provided I'm willing to bide my time to find a C2S with a 110-115k MSRP that I want and take 6% off of it as the delta in MSRP would be 5-7K maybe.

What do y'all think?

PS - I want to LEASE this car for a whole host of reasons and a used lease usually doesn't work out very well compared to a new car. If anyone disagrees, please do share any knowledge you might have. I'm all ears.

Thank you!

widen your dealer search, use the power of the net, 7% easy....i've heard of a lot better deals, double digits if you know how to negotiate.

You should be able to negotiate an 8%, possibly double digit discount on 2015's in dealer inventory. Inventory is thin now, however, with dealers anticipating 991.2. Make sure you are getting buy rate on the money factor on the lease. Watch out for MRM, try to find a C2S with MSRP below $123k and change. Big discounts from MSRP yield dramatically reduced payments. The residual on C2S is not quite as good as C2, but close and better than other variants. Good luck. SoCal is competitive.

If u are in So Cal, u can easily get 6-8% on a custom order. I was offered $10K off a car on the lot in late May already. Double digit is definitely possible with existing inventory. Call the 3 largest dealers in LA and ask for the Internet manager. They are usually more aggressive with the discount than if you just walk in.

If u are leasing, make sure u ask for the standard MF rate. Often, they offer $2000 more in discount then mark up the MF to make up the difference.

Does these kind of discounts hold for a GTS as well?

I was under the impression you could not order a 991.1 anymore. Only 991.2. Is that not the case?

991.1 still available to order. Gone soon. Brett @ Sonnen still had a GTS allocation as of last week. Get the last of the NA's.

I've seen some 2015 Carrera S's on the lot discounted very well. Over 10%. I'm not a lease guy, but you know where the deals are posted on RL ...

FYI - South Florida dealers seem to have an awful lot of new 2015s and 2016s in stock. I suspect, with the 991.2 arriving in a few months, these will be priced more aggressively...

Yes, a few members on this board got similar discount on GTS recently.

If one sales guy does not want to deal with u, go back and work with another sales. My experience. Same dealership, $5K difference between 2 sales. Go figure. Apparently, sometimes a returning customer gets less discount because they know you want another Porsche instead of they need to win your business.

Sonnen is in Mill Valley Ca, about 30 mins by car from SFO, and minutes north
of the Golden Gate Bridge.

mailto: brett.payne@sonnenporsche.com

He had one of the last GTS Coupe allocations left

I think the OP was looking for a C2 or C2S staying close to 100k...
