Default Oil change - anything else I should get done while in service?

2012.5 with 4,500 mi. This is my first P-car , bought last year CPO.

The car is telling me to get an oil change. I think the minimum annual maintenance is oil and break fluid change, but is there anything else I should consider?

Thanks for any advice.

It thinks you are driving 6500 miles in 5 days???? The first service is at 10K miles.

Service intervals are annually or 10000 miles, which ever occurs first.

I change my oil every 5,000 miles. Brake fluid flush is an every 2 year maintenance interval.

Not helpful to you at all, but how do you get the compass at the top of your multi-function screen? I haven't seen that option.

Thanks!

Go to Vehicle -> Settings -> Display -> Upper Line. There are a number of choices including Station Name, Fuel Range, Compass, and Blank. Choose one and confirm.

Whenever I have one of my cars in for even an oil/filter service I have a standing request with the tech to blow out the trash that the radiator ducts collect. If he believes the trash bad enough to warrant the extra labor to go ahead and remove the bumper cover and clean the ducts out manually.

The body water drains are checked too for any trash build and if any found cleaned. I keep a close eye on these but it doesn't hurt to have a second pair of eyes check these out.

While the car is in the air during the drain the tech gives the car a thorough inspection looking for any signs of trouble. Often he finds none but he did spot leaking from diff axle flange seals --- this on my 996 Turbo -- which were replaced and the diff fluid replaced.

Brake pad and rotor condition is checked along with the tires. These are inspected for any signs of a possible puncture -- nail or screw or what have you -- and for abnormal wear or wear that has the tires needing replacement. Remember brake fluid (and clutch fluid too if a manual) is scheduled to be flushed/bled every 2 years.

Back on the ground all vital fluid levels get checked and if any abnormally low -- so far none have been -- I would get a mention.

The car is 4 years old maybe older and while the miles are not that high a cooling system drain and refill with fresh coolant might be a good idea. The stuff is "lifetime" but the water pump seal and corrosion fighting additives get depleted over time and I like to renew this fluid every 4 to 5 years.

Also, consider having the cabin air filter replaced. These can get a funky smell after while.

Oh, almost forgot: Check with the tech to find out the replacement interval for the spark plugs. These have a change by date as well as a mileage change schedule.

Also, consider using Mobil 1 5w50 oil (see LexVan posts).
